Are these short or long tasks generally?

roughly 25 minutes on a 1080 Ti, fwiw.

I got my first doublecheck, and it was a MEGA :(

I rebuilt my old system and added a GPU to run COVID - related projects, but the project I am working on in that vein hasn't completed work on their GPU app yet. So I think to myself, why not run some GFN? But I forgot to set it so as not to get a ton of tasks at once, and you know how the rest goes...

On another note, my computer room is 18 F hotter than the rest of the house...

I hope that everyone is well and stays that way.

I didn't expect to get the TdP badge since it's my first time participating in it. But luck came last night and I appreciated. It would be the best present for one-year anniversary for my joining PG family.

Too excited to fall asleep

Yes, I feel lucky today so I will start a DYFL task :)

Congratulations!

The server keeps sending me four tasks at once even though I have both the fetch/store options set to 0 (and have done for like, over a year). I'm not going to find anything. :(

I wonder if setting max # of simultaneous PG tasks to the number of tasks you are doing may help (rather than no limit)?
I know that has the potential to go hilariously wrong if you are running CPU and GPU tasks - it looks like you are only running CPU tasks, so that particular problem won't occur.

Thanks, Nick, that fixed it. The odd thing is that it would alternate between sending me four tasks for a few hours, and then go to one for a while, and then repeat. Re the GPU situation, I was about to replace my dead unit when nature intervened and I decided to reallocate that money for the meantime in case things get bad.

8) Message boards : Number crunching : GPU app config (Message 136897)
Posted 309 days ago by TheCruelLogician
does this look even remotely like it should?

<app>
<name>genefer16</name>
<max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>genefer16</app_name>
<plan_class>OCL_cuda_GFN16</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>0.125</avg_ncpus>
<ngpus>1</ngpus>
</app_version>

I want it to run 1 gpu task using 1 cpu thread.

I'm trying to get ready for tdp, and somehow my app config didn't quite migrate when I switched ssds. All my CPU stuff is fine (yeah, im still using app config) but I have forgotten how to set up GPU apps. I had a medical procedure today and was under general anaesthesia, so I really don't feel like trying to figure it out myself. any help would be appreciated.
10) Message boards : Number crunching : Effect of temperature on processing speed (Message 136189)

Regardless fact that CPU will start to throttle if temperature of cores is too high: I always do anything possible to hold them at 70°C. With that temperature I am in heavy safe zone.
I also recommend same to you : dont push CPU temperature too high. Buy new cooler, change thermal paste: use compressed air to keep cooler clean: dust is devil :)

I generally aim for <80, as Intel says their chips can be run 24/7 at 80. Right now I am at 72.
