Hi I know this is Primegrid, but I am hoping someone from here may know what is happening with the Riesel Sieve (being in similar fields).

My team Boinc@Australia would like me to find out what has happened.

The upside of this problem is more of our cores are coming here!!

It was supposed to be a 30 minutes downstair move of the server.
Without any news for that many days, I fear that something bad might have happened to Lee. Maybe one of them prime beast got unleached when he opened the basement door.

Lets hope they are all OK, there are still quite a few monsters to capture before the Riesel World is one step safer... however why don't someone toss them an e-mail asking directly whats going on and posting the reply here? Just a suggestion...

And before you ask... I'm not sure that I've their e-mail adresses, else I of course wouldn't mind investigating the cause a bit further :)

If it helps, I tried contacting Bryan over Gtalk (he's online occasionally... even right now), but got no response.

[edit] Tried again:

[19:00] Bryan O'Shea: Basically, the project creator has disappeared. People have been in contact with him, but we haven't heard any resumption date or even if things will resume. For the time being, I'm focusing my efforts on getting the non-BOINC side of the project up, as it is far easier and requires far less resources. We do not have access to any of the databases or we would have been able to restore things even without the project creator.

Here is a message that Bryan posted about Lee (B2)

So, this is going to sound really bizarre, and possibly contrived, but we have heard from B2!!!!

Lee returned to online status at just after midnight, August 1st. He will have a statement about the outage/shutdown this weekend. In the mean time, I am preparing a project resumption plan (basically scrapping the plans I outlined Thursday). What I have so far:

1) Restore DB server, check data integrity
2) Restart web server for forum/website
3) Restart LLRNet server
4) Upgrade BOINC server to 'traditional'/'Berkley' BOINC software - since we're already in an outage, a few more days won't hurt any more
5) Restart BOINC server

Ideally, 1-3 should be done by Saturday night, hopefully. As we have more details, I will post them.
