I think few Russians realize they have shot themselves in the breadbasket.
Even if the land is not rendered unusable, you'll wonder where all the farmers have gone.
Ukraine normally produces 40% of the world's wheat.
Wheat futures are starting to spike like Bitcoin.

I think Putin thought he was going to roll right thru Ukraine, kind of like he did Crimea during the Obama administration, and be done before anything crashed. Things aren't going as he planned so he now has a 40k line of tanks etc driving into Ukraine on a single 2 lane road, it seems to me that taking out a large bridge would bring that whole thing to a halt as would hitting the supply line of ammo and fuel needed to keep the battle going. Russia has the firepower to win but apparently not the logistics to keep it going. | |
