Problems and Help :
Cant run WW on GPU

Whenever Ive tried to run WW on my GPU on this host:
https://www.primegrid.com/show_host_detail.php?hostid=918246
the tasks immediately crash due to computation error. Is there any particular reason for this? It works fine on other tasks, just really slow

Unfortunately GPU peculiarities and minimum hardware/software requirements were never posted for WW, so I don't know if the age of your card or low VRAM capacity is a factor in being unable to run WW (the errors can't be viewed yet, to help diagnose the issue).
Admins, if there are minimum specs to run the project (as there are with others) could those be posted to the WW sticky?
Something to try: Have you installed the last available driver for your card (16.2.1 beta)? Maybe try reinstalling it just to make sure it's fresh and has everything included?

GPU/driver lacks support of 64-bit atomic operations. May be driver update will help, may be not. The GPU is from 2010 AFAIR.
This (a requirement for 64-bit atomics) is the only major difference between WW and other (sieve) GPU apps.

I just can confirm 1gb vram is enough to do it with a (cuda) compliant chip

Yes I thought a driver update might fix it before but no such luck, which is why I suspect it has more to do with min. system requirements

Have you tried crunching anything else here at Prime grid with that gpu? Have you tried to use that gpu at any other Boinc Project? The reason I ask is AMD says that the latest drivers are the "Adrenalin 21.10.2" and your driver numbers look nothing like that, in fact your drivers say "driver: 1.4.1848". If you haven't gotten the card to work anywhere else either within Prime Grid or any other Boinc Project the problem could still be the drivers.

Yes, running GFN 15s on it now and has no problem with PPS sieve. I dont think I have enough vram to run AP27 on it. Just WW is having this problem. If I cant run WW on it then the tasks shouldnt be sent out to it

It's not the vram; your GPU (or video driver) lacks a specific feature that WW uses but Genefer doesn't.
If it's the driver, an update (perhaps a theoretical future update that doesn't exist yet) might fix it, but if it's the hardware then it just won't be able to run WW.
Go and re-read stream's earlier reply to you. That's the definitive answer.

Caicos (low end HD6000/HD7000) GPU driver support was EOL'd with the rest of the TeraScale architecture by AMD in 2016 with the 16.2.1 beta as the last driver. The next generation after was the new GCN architecture system and remains supported.
(On the Nvidia side, Maxwell (900) and newer are the only GPUs with up to date drivers, though random feature addition and removal isn't something Nvidia has a long history doing like AMD)
AMD driver numbers are reported weirdly on BOINC. Yesterday I found a translation guide, but today the search result became elusive. 1.4.1848 covers several driver versions from 2014-2016

FWIW, I had a similar issue with an old AMD 6750 GPU I found laying around: https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=9372#144889
Like steam mentioned, my issue was a lack of 64 bit instructions, a requirement to run WW.
Admins, if there are minimum specs to run the project (as there are with others) could those be posted to the WW sticky?
While not on the forum, you can view system requirements when editing your primegrid preferences (https://www.primegrid.com/prefs.php?subset=project). For example, WW is:
Wieferich and Wall-Sun-Sun Prime Search
Supported platforms:
Windows: Nvidia GPU (OpenCL): 64 bit, AMD/ATI GPU (OpenCL): 64 bit, CPU: 64 bit
Linux: Nvidia GPU (OpenCL): 64 bit, AMD/ATI GPU (OpenCL): 64 bit, CPU: 64 bit
Mac: Nvidia GPU (OpenCL): 64 bit, CPU: 64 bit
For CPU tasks only (not GPU tasks), multi-threading is supported and IS recommended. Click here to set the maximum number of threads.

Those aren't exactly the specs I was referring to, those are simply the host OS requirements (i.e., the WW app requires a 64-bit OS). I'm referring to listing the minimum capable GPU hardware, e.g. the oldest generation or family of GPU that will run the app and any specific driver notes, like the list provided for GFN and linked to in the main about post here: https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=6491. Having that in the project selection chart as well would also be handy (as it is done for the other GPU projects).

Well I updated the drivers and still get an error, so it must just be a hardware issue. Thanks anyways.
