This morning I canceled a PrimeGrid project, as it had an estimated run time of 3 1/2 weeks and a report time due next week. If possible, to whoever might control this, perhaps extend the reporting times for such long projects, so BOINC does not go into high priority mode, especially for a project that it cannot complete in time. I would estimate for a 500 hour project, allow at least 2-3 months, so that those of us who do run other projects aren't short changing them for that period of time.

What was that ?`I don't know about any subproject that may take that long time.
Try PSP sieve GCWsieve or TPS LLR

See what time you you get.

If you try TPS llr (thats the shortest) they take 3-4 min on a C2D 2,1Ghz

355 sec on a P4 2,4Ghz

GCWsieve takes 4230 sec on my P4 2,4Ghz

Normally they don't take that long, but this one downloaded overnight, and had a time remaining of over 500 hours, after having run for 2 hours this morning, at less than 1% complete. Most of the projects I run from this project last between 60 and 100 hours, but have a long enough reporting time that they don't interfere with any other projects. This one may have been an aberration, but if they start running that long on a regular basis, then a longer reporting time is definitely in order.

Question for you Corwin, if your not running in high priority mode, what % are you running Primegrid at? That "might" make a project take 500 hours or whatever it was, and then do you also know what project told you it would take 500 hours? or a few weeks to complete? Answering these might help us answer your questions or at least help you out if we can.
