I am getting my lounge room changed by adding a new wall. I only very recently bought speakers and I am pretty sure my neighbours won't appreciate music at 3am through the party wall. So the new wall will have a Rw + Ctr of 50 and so will the door(s) - 1 doorway - 2 doors. As I am aware of flanking noise, all other walls will also have acoustic treatment with added acoustic drywall. The carpet will be replaced (it is over 20 years old) with acoustic underlay and acoustic batts installed above the ceiling. When the room is finished I then may do minimal acoustic treatment of it to enhance the listening experience. Treat first reflections with diffusers and bass traps in the corners of the room.
Which gets me to the 3 computers now in the lounge. The new lounge cannot fit them. I cannot have them in the same room as my piano. One computer CPU only is definitely OK with the piano which is how I have it set up now. When I briefly ran 2 computers with GPUs it nearly killed the piano.
I was going to move the piano into the bedroom which is not ideal. I have now locked in moving the 3 computers into the hallway. Just bought 2 tv cabinets - 1 foot deep, 3 feet wide and 1.5 feet high. I will place the computers with the MB near the wall as that seems to be the cooler side. That will be one toasty hallway come summertime! |
