Is this a single post or page that lists all past challenges for each project? I'm thinking along the lines of a summary, e.g. project name, challenge name, date of challenge, length of challenge, # of participants who returned at least one result, # of results returned.

I think it is meant that this is the 13th challenge celebrating PG's birthday, rather than celebrating PG's 13th birthday.

Nope, it's just a mistake. It should be the 16th birthday. We celebrated PrimeGrid's 5th birthday in 2010.

Looks good to me, got no particular requirements myself, other than avoid late May & keep AP short (3 days is fine).
Fine with SoB & DYFL. | |

Close, but not quite. I would like to see just a summary (like the table at the top) but for all years on a single page. The individual challenge points are not as useful (IMO). The results would just be a summary, although I could see the usefulness of the links to individual and team results.

Hm, nothing for the Olympics?
I don't quite get Euler’s Constant Challenge. It's not even three days, let alone "constant". :P But, really, I don't see 1123 in anything but a Fibonacci sequence.

The schedule makes it feel like we are pushing really hard to finish the DIV project.
I am fully in favor of the push up on GFN 17 Low. Personally, that is something that I have always been interested in seeing the gap closed on.
I'm also a fan of ESP. It's a good little project.

Hm, nothing for the Olympics?
I didn't come up with the names for the challenges, but personally I'm tired of scrambling to rename challenges because the event was cancelled by COVID.
People are already cancelling big 2021 events, or making plans for them to be at least partly virtual. I'd give the Olympics only a 50/50 chance of happening in 2021. While I hope things are mostly back to normal by the summer, there's many months of preparation that precedes an Olympic games, not the least of which is the athletes training and qualifying. There probably isn't time for either this year. You would probably have to prioritize vaccinating athletes, trainers, and everyone else associated with the Olympics to make it happen, and there would be a LOT of backlash against that since there isn't enough to give to the front line health workers, nursing home residents, and the elderly. That kind of scandal could be the end of the Olympics, so they're not going to risk that.
I'm hoping 2022 is more normal. We still have a long ways to go to get through this.

The gap is still 60 000 000 numbers, so even with sieving I doubt it'll happen anytime soon. Low is at b = 21 000 000, mega is at b = 81 000 000. :)

Thanks for the schedule, looks good to me.
Do all the challenges really end one minute before the hour or is this just a notation for "clarity" for those who -for some reason beyond me- might misinterpret, e.g., "thru 19 January 00:00 UTC" as "includes the full day of 19 January"? Even one minute can make a difference, I managed to report one task each in the final 10 seconds of the last two challenges. :)

Mega didn’t start where it is now, it started about half of where it is now. Low is about 20 million numbers away from ending, and it will only keep progressing faster as technology improves. One challenge won’t get it there, but it will make a dent.

Name pending on that one. It's the day Euler coined "e" as the constant it's known as today. Also happens to be Thanksgiving in the US
Note that many people use the name Euler's constant for the number:
0.57721566490153286060651209008240243104215933593992...
The even more fundamental number:
2.71828182845904523536028747135266249775724709369995...
is, in many traditions, not named for any mathematician.
The latter number, e, was known before Euler's time (although other letters than e was used for it).

It’s just a change in the notation. The challenges start and end at the same times as they always have.

Maybe PG could set up a drop on / drop off challenge, where ALL work done on SoB could be counted. Then those really favouring SoB and speaking about a year long challenge, can continue competing with those feeling and favouring SoB a lot, for the entire year, while those needing to do something different from time to time, can drop on / drop off as they suits. If PG incist that there needs to be a SoB challenge and it somehow interfears with the challenge schedule, to have an unofficial 2021 year scoreboard, counting the effort done on SoB over the year, then maybe an unofficial year long drop in / drop off challenge for TRP could be put in its place.

I was kind of hoping to not spend January in an oven.
I was planning to mostly not use my computers then.
I have 3 systems in my lounge room and it will be mid summer (in Australia - it doesn't muck about with heat here)
The schedule would most effect teams like BOINC@Australia.

Jan 20-21: Euler’s Constant Challenge: AP27
Jan 23-30: Geminids Shower Challenge: GFN 21, GFN 22, DYFL
Feb 1-28: Tour de Primes
Mar 2 - Dec 31: Tour de SoB
Very great challenge schedule. Sure it is going to be fun to see how much progress this will bring on SoB. Who knows, maybe we will come so close to ending SoB that new sieve and/or new focus projects has to be considered ;)

I put all challenge history into a spreadsheet and generated the table below. There are too many different GFN challenges to track them all separately and as all GFN stats are on a single subproject status page, I combined them as a single "Project". This includes the 2021 challenges. It does not include any Tour de Primes challenges since those challenges are too general.

AP26 2 4 2009
AP27 4 16 2021

I would post the spreadsheet with the details behind these numbers, but I don't see a way to attach a file to a post.

Repeat the concentrated January challenge month in July so that users have the choice of participating in either month (or both). Then take the max of the January and July scores for each user's challenge points.
SoB crunchus interruptus: a year-long drop-in/drop-out challenge would be great!
But you'll want to make sure you *complete* the task before pulling out of the challenge for a while.

Um a bit late for a suggestion, but could the SoB challenge be extended to 15 days?

I'd be all for that. May be able to finish one on some slower hosts.

I took that to be tongue in cheek. Proposed not tentative and no start/end times. Michael?

Thought so. OP was never changed as well and this being THE gold standard of BOINC projects I knew you were a little more on the ball than that. Thanks for the clarification.

That's why I shut down either my GPU or CPU crunching over summer...... to offset the air conditioning bill lol.
I'm currently crunching 1 or the other but not CPU/GPU together. It's just too hot.
That's the way the cookie crumbles.

I'm preparing the pages for the 2021 challenge series.
https://statsgr.id/overall/2021_Challenge_Series_Current_Standings_Individuals.html
(never mind the top link which still points to the current 2020 series).
There wiil be four different challenge durations (3, 5, 7 and 10 days) for the 9 challenges.
Can I use the 2020 tables for duration individual/team points ?
Or am I getting ahead of myself ?
Never mind.

Is this a single post or page that lists all past challenges for each project? I'm thinking along the lines of a summary, e.g. project name, challenge name, date of challenge, length of challenge, # of participants who returned at least one result, # of results returned.
You mean like this?
Close, but not quite. I would like to see just a summary (like the table at the top) but for all years on a single page. The individual challenge points are not as useful (IMO). The results would just be a summary, although I could see the usefulness of the links to individual and team results.
Results for each year can also be found in Current Overall Standings.
In recent years, around 800 users and 200 teams scored points in the challenges.
It's a lot of information, since 2008.
What info exactly would you like to see summarized in a single page?

Personally I would love a chart showing my Teams participation in each years Challenge separated from all the other Teams, meaning I click a link and I see just my Teams stats, along with the people who participated in the Challenge, and none of the other Teams stats. Ideally it would show the ranking for each Challenge and year. BUT that could be alot of work for minor Teams like mine where it's usually just a couple of us crunching here and then often not what the Challenges are about.

Look at my post from December 21st. That is a summary across all years, but the spreadsheet I used to generate that data needs more data such as:
total number users validated results
total results
leading edge prior
leading edge post
primes found during search
This type of information helps one see how much growth there is in participate year over year. This is the type of summary I would like to see on a single web page.
Since I cannot attach a file to my posts, you cannot see the spreadsheet that I created. I'll post it on discord if case anyone is interested.
