As part of the focus project I have recently switched from PPSE (normal rate: 1 completion every ~70 minutes) to PPS-DIV. I have noticed a large variance in the size of PPS-DIV tasks: a few I can complete in 20 minutes, but I have gotten two tasks that will take ~30 hours to complete. I do not use hyper threading for PPSE (running only 2 simultaneous PPSE tasks and 1 CPU per task), but for PPS-DIV I have enabled hyper threading as recommended (2 simultaneous PPS-DIV tasks and 2 CPU per task).

I am afraid that the big tasks will end up failing because I read the program that is used to run the tasks is sensitive. Electricity is very expensive where I live so I cannot leave my computer running overnight, thus it will take at least 2.5 days before I get results for the big tasks. Is there any way that I can choose to only receive the small tasks so my effort will not be wasted if the tasks fail?

Hypoerthreading and multithreading:

i think you're confusing hyperthreading and multithreading. They are two completely different things. The first is a hardware feature present on some CPUs, and the second is a software technique.

Hyperthreading is NOT recommended for LLR.

Multi-threading might or might not be recommended, depending on both your computer and the size of the task.

Getting only the small tasks:

Sorry, but that's impossible.

Reliability:

It's not the software that's "sensitive", it's that your computers sometimes aren't very reliable, usually because either the manufacturer or the user turns up the overclocking and/or automatic clock boosts too high.

The software actually is exceptionally good at correcting errors, so even if your computer is malfunctioning the tasks will almost always be good.
