Could someone direct me to who and where they are doing the TPS sieving. I would like to get involved. Any chance for PG to start doing it under Boinc?

Try here.
At this time there is no plan to do sieve work for TPS on PG.

I find that rather daft because they will never get to optimal sieve depth with their current setup while primegrid would make it a lot closer to optimal which would save MANY hours of LLRing.

I find that rather daft because they will never get to optimal sieve depth with their current setup while primegrid would make it a lot closer to optimal which would save MANY hours of LLRing.
Please take in mind that a factor only saves about 5 minutes, so optimal sieve depth is reached very quickly, and it's very likely that it's not worth the trouble to set up another sieve project for.

TPS optimal sieve depth... 25000T Currently only @ 5000T or 1/5th of the way.
Granted with the sieve file being split up it will be a lot lower for each section but overall it saves a TON of time!
~320 k/M now vs ~292k/M at optimal
28*5 min = 140 min /M * 58890 M left = 8244600 Min or 15 YEARS of cpu time SAVED by being @ optimal depth
And thats only for whats left to do!
14000000 Minutes or 26 Years of CPU time would be saved if the whole thing was done to optimal sieve depth!
(all info was found either on the TPS range stats or the sieving reservations page @ tps)

Yeah, but sieving that range would sure take 15 cpu years, too. So, there is no point in sieving further. |

No it would not take that long at all... it would take around 5 cpu years I would estimate to get there. because if it took the same amount of time to find a factor as to do an LLR that would be optimal sieve depth and it currently is nowhere near that.
BTW now that we have PPS under project staging in boinc could we not do a similar thing with TPS?

I am still sieving PPS & 321 and becuse we run at least 2*LLR on each number we sieve to time is 2*LLR time
I have tested some number and a number that take 20 000 sec to LLR we sieve to we have 40 000 sec betwen factors found. (thats our goal )

The sieving is open again on TPS.
You find it here.
