I am back with SGS and I noticed I had 12 inconclusive tasks across 3 computers with another computer which is anonymous:
http://www.primegrid.com/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1005469
I am going to assume that the inconclusive results are invalid as there are 52 invalid results.
And with that assumption, 2.83% of the results are invalid.
This is very high. A driver problem?

There could be any number of reasons for the invalid tasks on that computer. It could be overclocked too high, could have faulty hardware, could be overheating, or could be something else I can't think of right now.

Basically, all that we can tell without seeing the stderr.out is that the system has a problem. could be hardware, could be software, could even be external.

I am only running 6 tasks of SGS right now and getting many inconclusive tasks with computer 1005469.
I looked at it's stats again.
1158 invalid SGS tasks out of 7842.
I would send the owner a message - in case they have missed this very high invalid rate - except the computer is anonymous.

Seems to be nothing unusual in stderr of a few tasks I looked at:
<core_client_version>7.16.11</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
BOINC llr wrapper (version 8.04)
Using Jean Penne's llr (64 bit)

Using zero-padded FMA3 FFT length 128K, Pass1=512, Pass2=256, clm=2

I never understand why people are so concerned about other people's computers. BOINC and PG are set with many fail safe efforts and if a computer is causing issues, the work will still get done.
With more issues with society all over the world requiring extra safety and protection, computers are being hidden so that it cannot be watched by others. Most businesses will hide their computers.
So what if those computers are not watched and send back invalid results. It slows down a WU for a while, still the work gets completed. Many of these projects are not for immediate gratification.
So, let the errored systems roll. They are not hurting the project, all they are is invalidating themselves.
Some of the projects you now sign up with turn on anonymous setting when signing up. If a person signs up to one of those projects and does not change it, it carries across all projects. Many never read the forums, or if they do just look at some news about the project and leave. BOINC was meant to be a set and forget in many instances. Those of us who follow the forums are rare.
So I say let them and concentrate on your own computers.

I personally do not like getting inconclusive results.
That is my whole interest in the issue.

The person in question is a long time member of PrimeGrid with a lot of credits, and probably doesn't speak English.
It is good to know that it has been considered to communicate the faults but it may be too difficult due to language barrier.
The computer is just over 4 months old, and if it is a hardware fault - warranty.
The invalids are increasing each day.
Taking a guess from inconclusives, the computer has invalids 28% of the time. It is probably worse than this as pending tasks will include some inconclusive tasks (which I think is safe to assume are ~all invalid tasks) that haven't been found yet.
I think the most likely thing is that a CPU and memory overclock has been turned on in the bios. 2 big friendly looking 'buttons' that should be turned off.
This is not effecting me from a crunching perspective as yesterday I had 3 inconclusive results out of 1000. I wouldn't be looking at this except that it is 1 computer with invalid results - and a bucket load of them.

I never understand why people are so concerned about other people's computers. etc
You may think it doesn't matter but I encountered this "we don't care" attitude at another project and decided that my time and money was better spent elsewhere. Do that to enough people and suddenly you'll be on your own.

Do that to enough people and suddenly you'll be on your own. Who are you adressing? The admins? They are supposed to contact every user that produces a lot of invalid results? The forum is open for everybody with problems and I never saw an unfriendly reply. But proactively contacting users that might have a problem they're unaware of ... that is asking a bit too much of volunteer admins. Especially in this case where it doesn't hurt the project at all.
Furthermore, you are free to contact the user in question. Did you do that?
I think they are doing a great job to keep PG running and up-to-date, e.g. introduction of LLR2.
Sorry if I sound a bit offended, maybe I got you wrong, but it seems a bit uncalled for.

I think there is misunderstanding.
I think it is a good thing to show interest in a computer with very many invalid results.
It is a very recent CPU and how it is being used may have implications for other users.
I really hope that it could be resolved so that the user can make full use of their resources.
I have never seen a computer deliver anywhere near this amount of invalid results - by at least 2 orders of magnitude.
The computer is anonymous so the user cannot be contacted through easy means.
I think this thread may be a waste of time if you choose to let it be.
I think it is still valid to write about this computer because in doing so I think we have worked out that nothing can be done. And it may reinforce that it is useful to be aware of invalid results.

I was replying to Pooh Bear's "couldn't care less" post and no, I don't expect the admins to check every one out there but it would be nice if they could do so when brought to their attention as in this thread.
Nick said he would have done this himself but the computer is marked anonymous.

If you look at https://www.primegrid.com/stats_ap26.php, there is a line:
337644001982372807+50446242*23#*n for n=0..22 found by AlbertCZ on 2020-09-03 03:52:28 UTC and verified by YuW3-810 (Task)
If you click on "Task" there, you come to https://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=671968852, and it has this computer as double checker. So, if on the first page, you click on "YuW3-810", I think you come to the owner. That is https://www.primegrid.com/show_user.php?userid=255518.

I am really impressed!
Thank you!!
Here was me thinking that from what Michael said, I could make some assumptions and look through the users. I got a lot right but unfortunately I was going to guess above 500,000,000 which would have undone anything else I guessed right.
Now I am going to trust in Google translate
Awesome. | |

You're very trusting :-)
I'm imagining : "dear sir, please set fire to your computer" :-)

I am reminded of getting help for a miniature USB powered evaporative cooling unit that was all the craze for a few minutes. The person helping me via email was in China and suddenly started conversing in Portuguese. I didn't skip a beat and replied in Portuguese - hopefully it was a reasonable representation of what I was trying to say. I may have said "My nipples explode!"

I still see that quite different, but it's finally friday, so let's agree to disagree (to use this cheesy phrase) ;)

And great news. Google translate did a good enough job of translating.
I have received a nice reply.
They hadn't looked at that computer for about a month.
They will be trying out a few things tomorrow and if that doesn't work, asking members of their team.

Well done, thanks Nick.
