I've decided to put all my CPU resources that can crunch World Community Grid OpenPandemics back in the fight.
This virus is still around, not enough research done yet, and one way to help is to contribute to how fast this research gets accomplished.
We all have our reasons, some may want to travel and can't, others may hate the masks, whatever it is, we need to do the science part to get this solved.
If you are willing and able, considering crunching some data and tasks for a COVID research project. The problem is current and just, and the most work done in a faster amount of time once would hope the data can be used sooner and produce a result sooner.
There are a few options. WCG OpenPandemics is one that is specific to COVID and runs on all CPU types and Android Devices. You know what you are crunching as it's a specific project.
Many know Folding@home was one of the first ones to have COVID work and they still do, tho all work units sent out are not always COVID from my understanding. It is a great GPU project tho and also has CPU work.
GPUGrid is another GPU project which supposedly has COVID work. And Rosetta@home also has CPU covid work but by the task descritpions it is hard to tell if either of these is actually covid work or another set of data.
The more we help the sooner we may see an end. So consider joining us on one of those projects and get crunching. Personally I'll be giving PG a break for a bit except for challenges. Primes are fun because there is a reward, quick gratification. Sometimes other work may seem less fun or less important, but I think we all can see how researching stuff for covid cures or vaccines or knowledge is very current and well worth donating electricity towards.

Based on my very recent experience with F@H, you can specify Covid-only tasks now in that project.

CPUs are all diverted to WCG OPN now.
I did also see F@H updated the client to let you select COVID only as well.

I've thrown my i5-8400 at WCG's COVID-19 tasks with Rosetta as a backup. I was going to go exclusively with Rosetta, but their task naming has gotten more cryptic than it already was so there's no way of knowing if what you're crunching is COVID-19 or not.
In the mean time I have the GPU in that system going on GFN14 to push that along towards completion.
Hopefully the data processed through projects like WCG, F@H, Rosetta, etc is actually used or useful in the creation of a vaccine or cure. I'd love to get travelling again, hopefully in about 8-9 months, but that is looking unlikely unless either a cure or a vaccine is found.

One system on it, will probably add others (still seeing how it works).

Like you, I have also joined gfn-14. So gfn-14 and WCG Covid on the rest. After a good run on 14 I think I may try Folding@home again knowing you can specifically select COVID work. Does it still tend to hang fetching work? or is work fairly consistent with no idle GPUs?
