Always a thing I look at first time around is how a newly attached project impacts the machine and me as user. Sadly, this is the 3rd project (PSP Sieve at least) that I find is not checking what the volunteer wants. I've set it to write at most every 600 seconds, but PSPS does it every 70 seconds or so and when on all 4 cores simultaneous of my quad not a pretty event.

Please ASAP implement this feature in your scoences. Asked same at QMC and Proteins@Home over 4 months ago and nothing but yawn reactions and "next release comment", which could be 2009.

thanks

We are using wrappers to run applications, which means we only take what a standalone application would produce and don't have much control on the internals of the applications. However (now that you asked for it), I think we might be able to implement that by working around application settings (which means that the app might still checkpoint not adhering to preferences, but it will only happen rarely. Please note that this will only be possible to do for sieve applications, LLR application is sadly out of question.

However, we'll only add that in the next release ;), which should happen next weekend (around May 17) and certainly not in 2009.

By the way, does it really have that big of an impact? I don't think that a few bytes written would make a difference.

Very sensitive to HD lightflicker in the fringe of my eyesight ;o)

This quarter is fine.... i'll survive. The other 2 just flat ignore even if reminded months later.

thanks

PS,

And because many got ticked off with the SoB Agent loosing work for unfathomable reasons during the April stampede, you'll see a few more arriving from the DPC herd.
