Hi all

I noticed this morning that the PSP Sieve units take about 30 seconds longer to complete on my compter.

Has anything changed?

Hi all

I noticed this morning that the PSP Sieve units take about 30 seconds longer to complete on my compter.

Has anything changed?

New sieve file has been released, and we probably overestimated speed increase (workunit length has been adjusted to have the same duration). I'll reduce it a little for the next batch.

Thanks

Only about 18 secs. instead of 30 secs. more crunching time per work unit now. Going to reduce some more? :)

Greetings

Do these few seconds really matter? They are not lost, there is just more sieving done per workunit. Therefore I don't see any problem when the workunits run a few seconds longer until they are finished.

My vote would be that the range in each work unit be easy to understand. Before, we were sieving 0.5G at a time. That could be bumped up to 0.625G (1600 work units per T). Just a suggestion. This would take 20% longer than the old work units (not 25%, there was a speedup due to the new dat file). Just a suggestion. I'm sure there is a balance between server load and aborted work units that I'm not factoring in.
