I notice that basically all the top computer spots are held by Intel computers, is this because they are better at processing numbers or that people like Intel better than AMD?

Intel has something like 70-80% of the market share. Those numbers aren't static and are hard to measure.

At any rate, with that much of a difference, a person could expect to see the numbers reflect that in the top spots.

It is nice to see what computers run the best number crunching, that's for sure :)

We all know Intelis much better in integer number crunching than AMD.
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see a reason to use non integer math for prime calculations.
So this simply shows the know fact.

This link shows that their integer speeds are pretty close. (From what I can understand of it.)

That's SPEC rate, i.e., how scalable the results are. In other words, how proportional the performance is to the number of processors.

There are some.
Asus and Tyan have them.
I have currenly only german links, but I'm sure there is something in english as well.
Here is one example for 2 CPU's:
Tyan Thunder n3600B (S2927A2NRF-E)

Wait am I reading this right - 4 quadcore chips on one board? I never heard of the socket type either - 1207 - I assume it's new? And it's not cheap but if it can handle the newer AMD quads this could be a real monster (and great in the winter)! Thanks!

Thanks. I see it's a 1207 as well. I am behind the times with AMD I guess as I still have my trusty socket 939 system running. :)
