With the year 2019 just around the corner, it's time to put up the challenge schedule for next year.

2019 Challenge Series Start End Time UTC Project Challenge Duration 1 7-Jan 22-Jan 05:43:00 SoB LLR Conjunction of Venus & Jupiter 15 days 2 5-Mar 10-Mar 18:00:00 GCW LLR Year of the Pig 5 days 3 24-May 31-May 00:00:00 TRP LLR Hans Ivar Riesel’s 90th Birthday 7 days 4 15-Jul 20-Jul 20:17:00 PPS LLR 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing 5 day 5 3-Aug 10-Aug 00:00:00 ESP LLR Lennart Vogel Honorary 7 days 6 21-Sep 26-Sep 11:00:00 AP27 Oktoberfest 5 days 7 24-Oct 29-Oct 00:00:00 321 LLR 50 years First ARPANET Connection 7 days 8 1-Nov 11-Nov 18:04:00 PSP LLR Transit of Mercury Across the Sun 10 days 9 17-Dec 22-Dec 04:19:00 GFN ??? Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi! Summer Solstice 5 days

Thanks to everyone's input on the 2019 Challenge Voting thread.
Just to reiterate some of the thinking behind the challenge selection:
SoB LLR - Most requested, helps with the ongoing double check, size of the WUs at the time of the challenge will be somewhere in the range 28-29M.
GCW LLR - We’ve done the sieving so let’s find some primes. Last challenge August 2017. Last prime n=1.8M, now up to 3.07M.
TRP LLR - In honour of Hans Riesel’s Birthday. Last challenge October 2017. Last prime n=8.9M, now up to 9.2M.
PPS LLR - Primegrid mainstay. Last challenge August 2018.
ESP LLR - To honour Lennart. Last challenge September 2016. Last prime n=7.1M, now up to 10.9M.
AP27 - Popular challenge choice, last run in November 2018.
321 LLR - Last challenge March 2018. Last prime n=11.8M, now up to 14.5M.
PSP LLR - Last challenge April 2017. Last prime n=19.3M, now up to 20.2M.
GFN - We want to run GFN, n mix still to be decided. 17 Low is popular choice. 22 would be interesting with CPU multithreading.

A few general thoughts:
Most of our projects are BIG numbers, take a long time to run, and the challenges MUST be long to accommodate people with less than stellar setups. That includes everyone on AMD and/or mobile platforms.
Tour de Primes will be the whole month of February as usual.
It's considered bad luck to celebrate Chinese New Year before the date the actual new year starts, 5th Feb in 2019.
Challenge scoring for [5,7,10,15] day challenge same as last years for [5,7,10,15] days.
I'll keep this post updated as details change.

Finally, we're looking forward to a well behaved discussion about the proposed schedule.

321 Sieve is going to reopen soon:
http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8390

No doubt this will lead to a rush for badges, as this sub-project has been closed for a fair while.
It should open between the end of January and mid-March.
Work in the 321 Sieve will not lead to a new project, as 321 LLR is already open, and the sieve won't impact the current range being crunched for at least a year.
Is there any interest in swapping one of the proposed 2019 challenges for 321 Sieve?
Slower CPU's can participate in a 321 Sieve challenge, and it can be shorter.
It would also provide wider exposure to entice more Users, one of the key goals of the Challenges.
If I get 10 expressions of interest I'll take this idea further.

Personally I think the sieve will get a lot of support from badge hunters and doesn't need a challenge to improve throughput.
Would be something to have in the 2020 Challenge Series.

As for me, this sounds more like a 2020 idea. I don't feel like we should mess this much with the 2019 schedule anymore.

Indifferent. I intend to let mine flow from 0 in a linear fashion, rather than a massive rush at the start.

Would be something to have in the 2020 Challenge Series.

+1

321 LLR is in 14M6 range, we don't need to push 321 sieve too much, it will get enough attraction due to badges. 2020 sounds good.

There are only 9 people with Turquoise and plus badge, which I consider low-level badges nowadays (a week of work for me).

Yes, it has been a while - only 3 of us are PG active from Top15 in 321 sieve.
A lot of new badges will be achieved.
____________
My stats
Badge score: 1*1 + 5*1 + 7*1 + 8*8 + 9*7 + 11*1 + 12*3 = 187

I think that this badge hunting will be an unofficial challenge by itself :-) Better in 2020.

Hey! I worked hard for my turquoise badges. I don't rank 40th on PrimeGrid like you, so I'm not jaded.
