Factorial Equinox Challenge - 22-27 September
Announced is a challenge at FPS (factorial prime search) from 22nd until 27th of September. I suggest we start at 12:00 UTC and end at 12:00 UTC.
The equinoxes are the only times when the solar terminator (the "edge" between night and day) is perpendicular to the equator. As a result, the northern and southern hemispheres are equally illuminated. The Latinate names vernal equinox (spring) and autumnal equinox (fall) are often used.
The equinoxes, along with solstices, are directly related to the seasons of the year. In the northern hemisphere, the autumnal equinox (September) marks the beginning of autumn. In the southern hemisphere, the vernal equinox occurs in September, this year at exactly 22nd Sep 20:02 UTC.
More about factorial prime search can be found here. News and infos about the PRPNet client can be found here.
To take part, you have to activate the following lines in prpclient.ini:
server=FPS:100:1:prpnet.primegrid.com:12002
Remember you also need to run the "install", "update" and "start" batch file for the appropriate number of cores on your PC. Give it a go before the challenge to iron out any problems.
Stats will be available at the well known place here.
All previous PRPNet challenge stats can be found here.
Good luck!

The News forum challenge thread and the front page claim the challenge started at 18:00 UTC. But it started six hours earlier, as can be seen in this thread and in Sysadm@Nbg's challenge stats page.
By the way, the sun has now crossed the equator and is in the southern hemisphere where it will remain for the next half year.

The News thread has been corrected to 12:00 UTC. Thanks for the pickup.
Now we enjoy the sun here in the southern hemisphere!

PFGW unfortunately does not support task multithreading.

I found out that the team name is case sensitive when editing the prpclient.
So make sure to type it in exactly as it should be.
So will crunching@EVGA er Crunching@EVGA take two of the top ten spots....oops
Sorry about that.

Yes, user and team are case sensitive, should this be explained in the prpclient.ini-comments?

Hey Mr Stats man, is there a page with links to all the previous challenge results? (or an easy way to find them without thread digging?) If not, can there be, please?
