This is the reservation thread for the combined Cullen/Woodall Prime Search sieving. The sieve is for n*2^n+-1 for 10M<n<100M. This sieve is scheduled to go BOINC by early October. At that time, 10M<n<25M will be cut out and sent to BOINC. Until then, the full 100M will be sieved.
Before reserving a range, please visit the Welcome thread for instructions and to download the setup files. NOTE: Manual BOINC cobblestones are available for this sieve. Also, this sieve is best suited for 64 bit Linux machines.
cullen100Ma_6G is the current sieve file and can be found here: Sieve file. gcwsieve-command-line.txt file is there as well.
gcwsieve v1.3.5 (Mac Intel users can build from v1.3.6) is the current version we are using and can be downloaded here: gcwsieve Sieve Software
The factor upload folder is located here: Factor Upload
To reserve a range, simply post in this thread the range you wish to reserve, using the following format for your message: Reserving Range Username. For example: Reserving 8000M-9000M Lennart
When complete, post again. For example: 8000M-9000M Lennart COMPLETE (3589 factors)
n*2^n+-1 for 10M<n<100M
0000M-6000M John/Lennart COMPLETE
6000M-6100M John COMPLETE (2142 factors)
6100M-6300M vkojlf COMPLETE (4205 factors)
6300M-6500M vkojlf COMPLETE (4214 factors)
6500M-6700M pschoefer COMPLETE (3940 factors)
6700M-6800M John COMPLETE (1937 factors)
6800M-7000M Killer4U COMPLETE
7000M-7150M Killer4U COMPLETE
7150M-7850M Killer4U COMPLETE
7850M-8800M vkojlf COMPLETE (14639 factors)
8800M-9000M vkojlf COMPLETE (2913 factors)
9000M-10000M Lennart COMPLETE
First Goal: 10G with Cullen file then combine with Woodall
Cullen Sieve complete. Once ranges come in, we'll combine with Woodall and continue from 10G upward.
Review other reservation posts before selecting a range. Also, check to make sure you have the latest sieve file.
Second Goal: 25G+
Final Goal: Enter BOINC
Updating sieve file
Download and unzip the new sieve file. Stop gcwsieve. Edit command-line.txt file to new sieve file name. Restart gcwsieve.
Multicore systems
Please visit the Welcome thread for special instructions on how to easily utilize all cores.
Process Priority Switch
Default is not to change process priority.
-zz sets lowest priority (nice 20, Low)
-z sets low priority (nice 10, Below Normal)
-Z sets high priority (nice -10, Above Normal)
-ZZ sets highest priority (nice -20, High)
Sample Rates - cullen100Ma_6G sieve file
Athlon64 2.2GHz 2G RAM Ubuntu64 - 1200 p/sec
Linux 64-bit, i7 920 @ 2673MHz, with -t8: about 9900p/s
Linux 64-bit, Xeon 3060 @ 2394MHz, with -t2: about 4200p/s (that's with some other usage)
my i7 920 @normal clock does 1200p-1400p / per core - used 7 cores
To keep the thread organized, reservation posts will be deleted as updated.

Resurrection
Both the Cullen and Woodall Prime Searches are approaching n=7M. Therefore, we are turning our attention to prepping the next range (10M<n<25M) for BOINC.
Lennart has already completed a lot of initial sieving but some clean up is necessary before we send it to BOINC.
EDIT2: The sieve is now active. First goal is to bring both the Cullen and Woodall sieves even so we can combine them. This will be done at 10G and will probably take only few days.
At 10G, they will be combined and the entire range 10M<n<100M will be worked on until upload to BOINC. At that time, 10M<n<25M will be cut out and fed into BOINC. The remaining 25M<n<100M will then stop at a nice round number and archived until we need it...many, many years from now. :)
We're looking to upload to BOINC in the next 6 to 8 weeks. As always, manual credit is available.
Thank you for your consideration.
EDIT: Best suited for 64 bit Linux machines. Cullen sieve file is 25MB and the Woodall sieve file is 40MB.

The "manual" Resurrection has ended
Surprise!!! CW sieve goes BOINC early. 10M<n<25M was cut out of the 10G file and has moved into BOINC. The 25M<n<100M will be on hold till we reach 15M-20M LLRing...so tell your grandkids or great-grandkids to be ready. :D
Thank you for such a quick response to get Cullen up to 10G. It was combined with Woodall also at 10G.
Expect to see work soon for CW sieve in BOINC [EDIT: work has been loaded]. Also, gcwsieve has gone native BOINC. Current builds for:
- Linux 32 and 64 bit
- MacIntel and MacPPC
Sieve file is 15MB. To participate, go to your PrimeGrid preferences page and select: Cullen/Woodall Prime Search (Sieve).
We need help in building the BOINC Windows apps for gcwsieve. If you're able to help, please use the 1.3.5 src which can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/g_w_reynolds/gcwsieve/
Thank you again for all your help!

is a right pain in the arse to swap from the distro install with decent startup scripts to the newer ones.
what is the reason for blocking this version of the client for this specific subproject?
is it related to this failure - seems not to be computer specific?
