As we continue to improve the reliability of all testing at PrimeGrid, we continue to double check projects with ranges for which only single pass work has been completed.
Unfortunately, the Wall-Sun-Sun (WSS) and Wieferich (WFS) software, as currently written, doesn't allow for double checking past work. Because of this, any future double check of WSS or Wieferich would require completely redoing all previous work not once, but twice. In essence, all work being done now and in the past on these two projects is being wasted.
Rather than letting participants continue to spend their time and resources on projects that will need to be repeated, we are immediately suspending WFS and WSS. Those two PRPNet ports have been set to no longer send no new work, although work currently being processed can be returned for credit. We hope that these projects may be reinstated when this issue is resolved, as both WFS and WSS are valuable searches. We thank all the users who have completed work to date on these projects.

please give me a hint for the stats:
- supend and continue at a later time from where we stop now
or
- close the stats at this point in a few days when work is done and at a later time begin again at zero

The later. That's why we suspended WSS and WFS so abruptly. It became clear that we would eventually need to restart from the beginning and everything being done now would have to be redone anyway.

Yeah, don't change anything until we have a plan for moving forward. We don't know yet whether WWWW will come back on PRPNet or BOINC, or when.

That sux, the Wieferich part was about 500 times faster than the old and stupid Wieferich at Home project. And now we can do it all again, lol (sorry). |

If the next incarnation is on BOINC, "doing it all again" won't take very long.

Is anyone actively working on adding double check capability to these searches? What exactly would need to be done to make the work double check-able?

I developed the original code, but have not touched it in a long time. It would require creating a checksum for each workunit. This is not the same as a residue that you get from a PRP test. Such a checksum will slow down the processing a little, but I'm not certain by how much. |

Is the code open source? I've only taken a few semesters of programming classes, but if the code's available I'd love to look at it to see if I could add a checksum of sorts. |
