I keep getting on my computer the following process: syst.host. How do I get rid of it? It is drawing off 25% of my power.
Thank you | |

There isn't a syst.host process as a part of Windows, could you mean svchost.exe? That's a generic wrapper for services, some of which love to run heavy on occasion.
In task manager, right click the offending process and select "go to services" and list them here.
On the other hand, if it really is syst.host, you can ask task manager to open the file location and see what it's associated with, but it could also be a virus.

I followed your directions, but it does not allow to click on "deny." So even after I go to task manager and "kill" it in processes it keeps popping up.
I could use another option or clear steps, sorry. I am not computer savvy.

It looks like you are running windows 7. There is a known issue with windows update eating up a lot of processor time.
You might want to try the things suggested in this thread at anandtech forums and see if it helps.

I will try. It is a recent occurrence and the computer is over a year old. Sorry, should have stated that it is an "exe" .
