Magically (more likely due to some behind the scenes work) the sub-project badges have grown in size and sharpness and the AP badge no longer shows as AP27.
Nice changes !! Two paws up!!

We were wondering how long it would take someone to notice. :)
Oddly enough, this happened because of an unexpected problem with moving GCW to BOINC. I expected it to take all of 30 seconds to make new badges for GCW. It turned out that "GCW" was much too wide to fit in the existing badges with the font we're using. We most definitely didn't want to make the font any smaller. There also wasn't any decent alternative for the letters. ("WOO" is also too large, which is why the badge has said "Wn" instead.)
So we made the badges larger.
Besides the badges and the fonts being larger, the text changed for a few badges:
AP 26 became AP.
Cn became Cul.
Wn became Woo.
The new badges will be "GCW" and "GCW SV" when those projects go live.
(And, yes, I know the TDP badges are still small. Those have to be drawn by hand.)
EDIT: If some of the badges (other than the TDP badges) remain displayed at the smaller size, hit F5 or CTRL-F5 to force your browser to bypass its cache and download the updated images.

I will bite and be the first to ask: any ballpark estimates when the new projects could be live?
Edit: Obviously it is something quite close given the discussion below. |

Not too long, but we're not ready to talk about schedules yet.

Those new projects are secretly the same TRP SV app disguised under a different name, so that people will badge hunt for them and speed up the sieve! I knew it...

Be glad we didn't make each of the 15 bases in GCW a different project! :)

Lovely new badges :). Thought it was browser zoom issue at first...
Looking forward to reawakening my GCW sv badge that's been dormant for probably 4 years - I assume that's what will happen. As if we weren't spoilt for choice already!
Also the badges mean one doesn't have 1 full line then an odd one on a second line on a maximised homepage. |

That was poorly named -- the old project was actually a "Cullen/Woodall Sieve", not a "Generalized Cullen/Woodall Sieve". The upcoming sieve is a different project, and a different badge. The old badge/project is not being reactivated.

That means it'll be 2 full lines. Even better!
It's art it really is... |

How odd. Personal badges are different sizes for different folks. |

|
|
Will the exported badges be larger as well? |

If anyone's going to Ctrl+F5 to update their badges, I suggest doing so at the Badges thread. It'll update all the images, rather than updating only those of the users in whatever page you are currently on.
And while we are at it, someone could update the PSP SV and AP badges to reflect their retirement / revivals. Or wait until TRP SV goes out and GCW (SV) comes in, that's an option too. |

We don't export badges. We export numbers.
Some outside sites takes those numbers (the credits each person has earned) and use that to build their own displays, signatures, and whatever.
Whether they choose to do so using the old badges or the new badges is entirely up to them, although my guess is that sites that are actively being maintained will probably choose to use the new badges.
(The images for the badges are available to other webmasters.)

That's good advice.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Oops, I ate part of my text. I meant the post by 1998golfer listing all the possible badges. |

I'm always thinking the Woo badge is missing a T when I glance over at it ;)

Ah, I wondered about that. Cool. I never really had an issue with visibility, but then again I guess I have younger eyes... ;) (okay, or a big monitor)
I never understood "Wn" for Woodall. WOO makes more sense, especially since that's the abbreviation used in the workunits. "Cn" for CulleN seemed alright though. Nice to have more uniformity though. Almost all three characters, except AP.
Good call with the badge facelift. |

This grid of badges is starting to look like a bingo card.
Which made me think of some interesting challenge possibilities for Primegrid bingo, especially having so many bases for GCW from which to randomly generate bingo cards. Throw in other subproject/base combinations, and pretty soon you have enough variety to make things interesting. |
