BTW, by far, the most time consuming portion of what I do is to figure out what BOINC account to use for first time PSA participants. It's not sufficient to just match usernames because there are many username duplicates in the BOINC database, so I do the match on email addresses. So make sure your email address is correct in your PRPNet configuration!

I just read this old thread which seems to suggest that the username you use for PRPNet does not really matter as long as the email address is the same as your PrimeGrid login.

Is this a correct statement? Will PSA credit still be awarded if the username is different but the email address matches my PG account?

That is correct.

The first thing I check is the email address. If I can't find a match on the email address, I try to match the user name. If that also can't be matched up, I'll send an email to the address you configured for PRPNet. I'll need a response in order to be able to award BOINC credit.

99% of the time people use the same email address on PRPNet and BOINC, so it's easy to match them.

HOWEVER... The best thing to do is use your BOINC user ID number as your PRPNet username. The reason is that if you pick a username that's already been used by someone on PRPNet, to me, it just looks like an existing user and the original user of that username will get the credit instead of you. It's unlikely that anyone would have used your user ID number as their username, so there's almost no possibility of it being confused with another user.

That last part is hypothetical. To my knowledge, we've never had two people try to use the same username on PRPNet. But there's nothing to prevent it from happening.
