I found out something pretty cool today, and was so excited and I'd like to share..
My Cyber Patriot team got 3rd place out of I believe 1800 open division teams internationally (US and Canada), so for the first time my team and I get to go to the national finals competition in DC next month. This has been one of my main goals for 4 years, and this was my last chance to make it (I'm a senior in high school).
The competition is an international cyber defense competition, we're given virtual machines of vulnerable systems and have to secure them to the best of our ability in a 6 hour time frame, plus complete a Cisco networking quiz and packet tracer activity. I usually do the Linux images, though in past years I did windows so I'm quite familiar with both.
This is in addition to other good news, my TSA chapter is going to nationals for multiple events, I'm personally competing in web design, software development, animatronics, and technology problem solving.
I'm mostly excited about the Cyber Patriots one, because I've worked for that one throughout all of high school, and the trip is paid for by the Air Force Association.. The TSA (Technology Student Association) nationals event I'll have to pay for myself, so I might not be able to go.. I'll have to figure out how to fundraise and/or earn the money for that.
Anyways, it's been a pretty great year so far, I'll be graduating high school this May as a Junior in college (Computer Science major, math minor) and likely 3rd or 4th in my class.
Plus... I found a megaprime!! I'll be turning 18 later on this month, I think it's pretty cool I managed to find one before my 18th birthday...
Thanks for reading, had to get my excitement out :)
275*2^3585539+1 is prime!!! (1079358 digits)
