This is a new thread to announce primes as they get discovered starting in October 2015. For a comprehensive list of PrimeGrid's GFN primes, click on "PrimeGrid Primes By Project" in the menu on the left.
The first new discovery is 3042376^32768+1 by SlangNRox on October 23rd, 2015 13:27:57 UTC, using the OCL3 app. This prime was found during a double check of earlier searches. It's currently too small to be reported to T5K. The double check was by Charles Jackson on October 25th, 2015 11:14:52 UTC, using the CPU app.

Genefer statistics http://www.primegrid.com/stats_genefer.php are not correct: a single n=16 is reported.
They are not generated automatically... ?

It won't show the latest prime until the wingman returns the result. That part is automatic. Posting on the forums isn't. :)

Okay, fine. Things to take out of this:
1- Good job PRPNet, you did great.......
2- Get your GPUs on n=15 / 16 while it's still in double check phase, primes are just sprouting all over the place. It is your chance to be famous! |

It's deja vu all over again!
Looking at the 65536 list in T5K, I see the following:
2150 2162068^65536 + 1 415162 g260 Jul 2008
2185 2041898^65536 + 1 413535 L4204 Oct 2015
2189 2019300^65536 + 1 413218 L4204 Oct 2015
2202 1966374^65536 + 1 412462 L4201 Oct 2015
2215 1927034^65536 + 1 411887 L4200 Oct 2015
2235 1874512^65536 + 1 411101 g413 Jun 2008
All the primes have come in the gap between 1874512 and 2162068, suggesting that perhaps this range was missed? At any rate, my SWAG is that there will be another 3-5 primes to be found before 2162068.
Interestingly, there is another large gap between:
2255 1828502^65536 + 1 410393 GF2 Mar 2005
2470 1540550^65536 + 1 405516 GF2 May 2003
While doublechecking this section, was OCL or OCL3 in play? I am asking because, it might be worthwhile to check this section using the error-free OCL3 rather than OCL. |

There's 84 candidates in that range that have not yet completed (out of about 42 thousand). So there might still be some primes in there.
I made the switch from OCL to OCL3 somewhere in that range, so the top of that area was certainly done with OCL3.
EDIT: I just checked, and the switch to OCL3 was made before the bottom of that gap. Every number crunched on a GPU that wasn't using app_info was checked with OCL3. There were certainly many tests done with the CPU app, however.

We really find many "little" n=15 primes.
I long for GF n≥18 primes.

We really find many "little" n=15 primes.
Indeed, now that we're no longer double checking old work, and checking about twenty thousand candidates each day, we are certainly finding primes very quickly.

And if I remember correctly that was stated on the front end when Mike asked if we would like to run this project. I think it's great that we are finding them even if they are smallish.
Cheers

Should the entry in the Top 5000 not have the "Official Comment" Generalized Fermat (even if this prime is far from the relevant Top 20)?
Edit: I see the comment is there now.

I've spoken to Chris Caldwell about this - the Generalized Fermat comment is done by his system automatically and I'm not supposed to ever report it that way. |

All is good.
I swear the comment was not there when I first submitted my post, at 22:41 UTC. But when I checked the entry again at around 23:10 UTC, it was there!
The entry currently appears to have been "Last modified" at 16:50 in its local time. Given that the top-5000 server appears to be based in West Tennessee, USA, my understanding is that this means 16:50-06:00 (it cannot be that they observe daylight-saving time in the winter) which is 22:50 UTC (subtract the offset). So I figure the entry was updated (maybe automatically).
So I learned something new: These Official Comments appear only after a little while.

I've noticed that the cpu app is finding primes and are being doulbe checked by cpu also.
When you send out the work unit to a cpu do you then only send out the double checks to cpu's?
