NVIDIA drivers ver 350.x and 352.x add support for OpenCL 1.2 (this is a surprise!).

Another change is that now the address size is 64 bits on device side if the application is a 64-bit application (host side). It still uses 32-bit address size on device side with 32-bit applications.

The 32-bit OpenCL applications are not affected.
The 64-bit versions:
- should be fixed.
- run slower than the 32-bit applications because of 64-bit address size (with previous versions of the driver, they were as fast).

On Windows, OCLcudaGFN is a 32-bit application, but the Linux version for AMD x86_64 and Mac version may be impacted.

Hi Yves,

Not quite sure I understand the implications of the new driver…

On Mac, the OpenCL library is provided by Apple, not by the Nvidia or AMD software stack (although there will be a driver somewhere at the bottom!), so I don't expect anything to change there.

On Linux, are you saying that the currently shipping apps will stop working if they are run on a machine with the new drivers?

Does anyone have such a machine and wants to try out the new drivers and report back?

Hi Iain,

if geneferocl in "prpclient-5.4.0-linux_64.7z" is a 64-bit application, it will stop working with NVIDIA Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver v 352.09.
The fix "rev 809" is necessary.
The 32-bit applications are ok.

Thanks Yves, I understand. Will get new binaries out ASAP. For now, Linux users should avoid upgrading to the new drivers.
