Hi, all.
I was overclocked slightly my GPU (radeon hd 7850). In the stock my card have: core=900MHz, mem=1200MHz.
Few months earlier, I overclocked to core=1000MHz, mem=1290MHz (and ofcourse I made stress tests like memtestCL and others).
In my current setup, Genefer fails after few minutes with maxErr exceeded error. How much is genefer sensitive for GPU memories clock (must be in stock frequencies)?
I am using AMD Catalyst 14.6 beta (from May) on the Linux 64-bit.
Thank you for any response.
PS: Fans speed while genefer computing was in 41% and GPU temp was not higher than 63C. |

I fixed problem. Now I am crunching on mem=1270MHz. and apparently is good (no errors).
That rights. genefer is very sensitive for mem overclocking. |

After 7 hours of crunching error was encountered again :(. Currently I stopped crunching of genefer. |

TL;DR: don't OC.
Especially memory: the makers of the card already did it for you; they "bin" the cards based on internal testing and sell them for more or for less. |

Thank you for advance
Nevertheless my graphics card successfuly crunched one Genefer WU on mem=1255MHz, core=1000MHz. |

Did you try this?

10% faster at the same clock speed!

I did know about this trick, however I was crunching on the standard setup for OpenCL.
Ok. I can try.
EDIT: I confirmed. This is weird, but without optimizations is 10%-13% faster. I will try without changing setup and I will check stability.
Thank you for any advance. |

In addition to stability, also check temperature. If it is running faster, it is running hotter, or at least making the fans work harder.
Glad things are working for you though!

Temperature of GPU core was OK (not hotter than 63C) , but doesnt exist method to check GPU memory temp (ofcourse).
gfx card was working good even its temp was greater than 70C (when I was torturing it with using matrix multiplication: sgemm :) ).
Unfortunatelly genefer WU with 'trick' failed on slighty overclocked mem (1255MHz) :(.
Maybe depends on average number of operations on GPU mem (faster=hotter). |
