As you all may know, our datacenter is closing down and we are moving the servers of PrimeGrid soon. We are taking the opportunity to move to the cloud, which will reduce our costs and will allow to purchase additional resources when needed (for example, during the challenges).
However, PrimeGrid does not have any financial backing from universities or organizations. For the last year we have not been receiving enough money from donations and Google ads. Therefore, we have over 800€ debt for the last year for collocation of the servers, and this year we have already added close to 300€. We also need the money for the purchase of new cloud services.
Because of this, we have to ask for your help. If you can help, please head to the donations page and make a contribution.
Each contribution, no matter how big or small, will earn you a donor's crown. However, we kindly ask you to keep the donation above 2€ because of transaction fees.
We have also added a direct transfer in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, United Kingdom. We now also accept WebMoney. These donation types will be handled by our new payment processor, mokejimai.lt.
One tiny note: because of the server move, all donations will be handled and entered into the database manually, therefore it may take some time until your donation is processed and appears in the donation page.
So, once again, if you can - please head to the donation page and make a contribution. It is you who helps keep PrimeGrid running! Thank you for your support in advance. And if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact any of the staff.

Unlike TheDawgz - PrimeGrid never begs - so Dawg up!!
TheDawgz went there, did that, it didn't even hurt and now the 2012 debt is a few € less than it was.
In fact, TheDawgz felt so warm and furry - we went back and made the 2013 debt a couple of € smaller as well.
So, if you want to be all extra warm and furry just like TheDawgz - GO (right now, not later) and DONATE!!!

Ah, g'wan then. Even though I rarely crunch this project these days I do read the forums every day, and I've donated before, so might as well do it again :)
Cheers,
Al.

TheDawgz have another way to look at this - for those who don't wish to be as warm and furry as TheDawgz are (can't imagine why anyone wouldn't).
As TheDawgz are known to be fond of their adult beverages and we are fairly certain that Rytis resides in Lithuania; we present the following:
If just 250 of us would donate the equivalent of a six-pack of domestic Lithuanian beer (~15 Litas) or
a middle of the road bottle of wine (~18 Litas)
the entire PG debt (both past and present) could be wiped away with a bit left over for the future!
So GO DONATE 5€ (~17.26 LTL or ~6.77USD)
Think about it - where else can you get bragging rights for personally finding a prime number for a measly 5€ ???
The fine print:
TheDawgz are unofficially and without permission twisting your appendages for donations.
At this point TheDawgz must admit their ignorance -
TheDawgz have no idea if our pricing is correct - it is for illustrative purposes only.
We had NO idea what the monetary unit of Lithuania is.
We did have a bit of difficulty locating Lithuania on a map, but we were reasonably close (should count for something).
We have no idea if domestic Lithuanian beer is even sold in a six-pack - we'd like to hope that it is on the off chance we ever end up in Lithuania otherwise we would be forced to purchase and consume case lots.

As I do not use Webmoney or paypal and I would like to donate can I ask if there is any reason why Visa/MC paymants cannot be made? It would be much simpler.

Would it be possible to accept Bitcoin as a method of payment? (Just a thought, much of the hardware used for BOINC is also used for mining...) |

You can use PayPal even without registration. Just follow the donation link on PayPal, and choose "Pay with a debit or credit card".
We cannot accept payments from cards directly because of the payment processor's restrictions :(

Update
In the last 24 hours we've raised close to 1000€. Big thanks for your support!
The debt for 2012 is almost covered, and 2013 (to date) have been paid for. Therefore, I have updated the donation page to show the total estimated spending for 2013, instead of only the debt. This way you can more easily see how much money is needed to finance our operations this year, and contribute accordingly. Also, please note that this is only an estimate - we hope that we can save a significant amount in the cloud.

So I was there yesterday and deposited a donation ...
hope this made ugly dogs stay away from me
PS: crown was there awhile beside my name, can I get a fresh and clean one ;)

just a tought : I work at a hardware recycler/reseller, if there's a euro-place where there are servers, I think I can manage to put a 1u dual qc server in for you guys. (if you have a colo in europe somewhere).
Or supporting with hardware :+
Let me know whats possible (preferably trough mail).
We do alot of refurb, maybe an option instead of new stuff, or is all the capacity hired/lease?
edit: Title says: Donation drive for the server move
you got me really thinking you needed spare drives for a moment ;) |

Actually 5 Eu is a bit steep for a Crown. They used to be 5/-, which is now 25p and I have no idea what fraction of a euro!!
Anyway I have got a crown on order so when can I expect the Pivo or Vodka from the Gawgz?
Note : Britons with good memories or their visitors of long ago will understand the 5/- comment. the rest of you can search for it!!

I remember the Half Crown. What an utterly ridiculous coin in terms of pecuniary value and sheer physical size. I also remember 10 Shilling notes. I miss them.
I'm *so* old ;)
Cheers,
Al.

My confirmation email from PayPal states that I have paid Zilvinas Salialionis. Is he your accountant? I'd hate my "Twenty Pieces of Silver" to end up in the wrong hands!

It can take some time until you get the donation crown. In my case was it two weeks in october 2011...

One tiny note: because of the server move, all donations will be handled and entered into the database manually, therefore it may take some time until your donation is processed and appears in the donation page.
I've donated 10€ four weeks ago but am still crown-less :(

I've missed out on this thread, which is testament to how PG isn't begging and nagging people, like virtually every other site on the internet does.
I'll donate soon, there are various boring complications with doing it immediately, but consider my donation on its way within a few weeks. |
