It is PPS, so at least 500000 digits long, about ~ 265 place, dont even shown on check list of 5000 primes page, so need to wait for details :-)
Now I left Primegrid, and do search for next project with bigger prime - SR 5 on PSA.
And yes, I am initial founder :-)
514358 long and verified :)
Currently on 262 place
I am not millionaire, but I am half of millionaire :))
What I nice gift for end of this year :))

From yesterday, since my stat show new prime, I look every ten minutes on 5000 prime page, until number with my personal code was listed.
Then I verify ( for myself) prime on third computer at my home, calculate number of digits in prime, and then wait patiently until whole process is done :)

When I got my PPS hit a week or so ago, it lasted several days on the PG front page. So enjoy seeing your name "in lights", Crun-chi! I also see that Tarmo has two hits on the front page, at least for a little while longer. Aggie is on a roll...
I've taken on two of those "Genefer World Record" units, which should finish just before the new year rings in, assuming all goes well (not a sure thing)... also pounding away on TRP Sieve again.... cheers!

New path, new way, new sheet of paper in prime search.
When I first time arrive here, I only know what prime is: simple definition.
From today, I open new way.
Yesterday I found PPS page for reserving ranges that never be processed on Primegrid or Prpnet, and start to crunch my first set of possible primes :)
First few hours of sieving, then dividing possible primes in small sets for crunch on every core :)
Since I dont care about points on Primegrid, I just want to search and find big prime, MEGA is goal, but for now I am on lower range about 750k :)
Thanks to all of you, you are, and will be from big help. Especially Tim!
Go ATP
And of course, I am not leaving you, I am here, watching my team :))))

I dont know if you here are familiar with funny story that tell next fact. In every chip there is small amount of carefully packed white smoke. When that white smoke escape from chip, chip stop working :) ( of course that is heapen when chip is burning)
So before two weeks, in the middle of crunching my new range in search near mega prime, I carefully lay on its side my second computer ( obvious that was no carefully enough) and two white smokes escapes from computer, and he, stop working.
Diagnosis was burned MB and CPU: but from yesterday, I am back on-line with full potential and crunching is now in 100% again.
Currently I made about 19% of 8919 candidates but still there is no prime. On the other side, there is plenty of space and time when prime can jump from candidates :)

TheDawgz are in trouble unless there is enough room under the porch to sit/stay fully vertical.
I've heard of that special addition to most electronic equipment but being a non-smoker, haven't had any use for it.

Yes, I will complete whole range I reserved, but now I am nearly 50% done, since I used small batch of number in random order :) First I finished longest one, then go back and look at middle, and as you can see, now I am at nearly beginning of range :)
Next time, I will choose smaller range but with better density of primes, right now I already started to make sieve for my next range. And next range will be from 1.000.002 digits to 1.020.000 digits :)
Or in other words, will be MEGA :)

Got the email:
Since you have auto-reporting selected, the following prime was submitted on your behalf:
Added 113978 : 5635*2^1081206+1 (325480 digits)
On my PG list of primes page, this shows up in my "double checker" list. It must be one of those where the initial finder was anonymous, and didn't claim it before the deadline. That's OK; I'll take it!!
I think I saw bartman on the "newly reported finds" list too, a day or two ago. Well done, AtP!

xGFN testing is done automatically for all Proth Primes found on BOINC. It's done on the server so there is usually a short delay before the prime is reported to allow the tests to complete.

Since riesel search didnot get result, my search is continue but now with base 10.
So wish me a luck, and if I find megabit prime with base 10 I will be first in the world ( current record is 96 · 10846519 - 1 or 846521 digits) ...

To refresh my post :)
I am currently in two battles:
one front is 15*2ˇ^n-1 prime range from 1053621 to 1083724 ( so above MEGA)
second front is near-repdigit range 710.000 digits ( second if I find it) and about 908.000 digits ( first in world if I find it :)
But as I say, currently is so hot I must reduce from 8 to 6 cores, so crunching is 25% slower .
And yes: I say 10.1 this year that I hope I will find MEGA in six months: so I must say I failed :(
But find two big primes is also great success :) ( 95 and 103 place)
P.S My photo lens have factory error: and stop working so there was no new photos, this morning lens came back from service, working as new one, so new pictures will come soon :)
Happy crunching to all of you!

After near 60 days of searching and over 14.000 WU processed , finally, today, I found my first two near-repdigit primes! They are far, far below 5000 top list, but they are mine, and I am proud of getting them :)
So I now have primes in five categories: near-repdigit, quasi-repdigit, riesel prime, proth prime and SR5 prime :)
Hunt for MEGA is continuing :))

Rick, thanks :))
Mattozan, all is same like any other llr search but primes are in base 10 and they are specific K in search: 2,3,5,6,8,9,92,93,95,96,98,99.... until 99999999 ( above all can be divied with some number)
And all is -1 at the end. If use +1 then it can only be quasi repdigit since it have the numbers ( 0, 1 and third part)
UPDATE: a new hit right now 78004 number nine and one number 4 :)

3,500,000-3,600,000 - Pepi37 - Complete

Ah Gary, there was countless nights of sieving, looking for "good range", and "defects" in distribution of primes :)
Maybe, just maybe it is my gold wire in colliery of endless prime :)
( I become poet) :P
Yes it is near-repdigit prime, currently, fifth in the world :)

Got another one, this morning. Not particularly large, but still noteworthy.
Congratulations! Our records indicate that a computer registered by you has found a unique prime number. This computer is running BOINC, is attached to the PrimeGrid project, and is assigned to the Proth Prime Search. What makes this prime unique is that it's large enough to enter the Top 5000 List in Chris Caldwell's The Largest Known Primes Database.
Since you have auto-reporting selected, the following prime was submitted on your behalf:
Added 117988 : 8745*2^1277577+1 (384593 digits)

Welcome back Crun-chi. We've missed you... post some new photos if you get a chance.

Hello, Its been a while since I was here.
I haven't been crunching because I was using my power to make a boatload of cash. Mostly cloud stuff that I don't have any more as profit margins have sunk to unprofitable.
Any one know of the best GPU / CPU and crunch app combo that nets you the most credits?

Welcome back!!!!
pps sv / ppr sv is still the best credits/hr for GPU. For CPU I'd say ESP/PSP/SoB Sieve. Right now there is a TRP LLR challenge (just started)

Welcome back, good to see you :).
For best CPU credits do GFN due to the bonuses. |
|
|
|
GFN "small" units for qick payback, but if they ever make the WR units available to capable CPUs then do those... just expect to wait about 6 months for the credit. Unfortunately the same goes for SoB BUT it is easier to keep aborting and re-requesting work from your client(s), and then look up the specific WU to see if it's already been completed. That does make you only a wingman and not an official first finder, but to be honest this place could do with a few "wingmen" on projects like SoB and GFN-WR.
So for CPU I'd go for SoB, assuming you can wait blooooody ages to actually get credit. Having said that, I think if you found a prime "first" (i.e. without a wingman) then the mods would know, and discreetly do the double-check themselves. I think SoB is at a stage where a prime will be #11 on the all-time list.
GPU - go GFN.
If the wait for SoB credits is too annoying, then I agree that GFN for both CPU and GPU is a great combo, assuming your systems are stable. If you've got old(ish) Xeons in the hundreds then possibly think about the modern GFN app taking full advantage of FMA3, and possibly not running the most efficiently on a 32-core Xeon with Nehalam or Sandy Bridge architecture. |

Very small but also very sweet prime
(73*10^51162-1)/9 or in decimal
811111111111111111111111111111111 ( 51161) numbers 1 to the end.
Currently it is unprovable near-repdigit PRP but it is first for me and I am very happy!

CongRATs Crun-chi on your find.
Did you report it to the top 5000 site? I'm not sure how that works outside of the automatic PrimeGrid mechanism, but I think that site has pages for primes of "special form" like this one, even if they are not as large as the top 5K.
What program did you use to run the test? LLR? PFGW? Something else?
Again, congratulations and cheers.

No, I didnot report it, because they are too small even for "special type of primes"
But I did report it on Makada page, so they soon appear there..
I use LLR , and as I can see process time is nearly same as for other type of primes..
In mean time I found two more...
Thanks Gary :)

After information exchange with one highly educated mathematician I am now able to reduce initial sieve up to 500%( only on some types of sieve, but that is also big progress), so now I can test on much bigger range.
Result?

In next few days I will pass 1M.
Expected prime is around here somewhere, for testing up to 1M1 I will need another 26 days... but I will search it until I find it.
Hope that prime will be below 1M25 since until that value I have very good sieve data :)

(73*10^248145-1)/9 was a little experiment, since it cannot be proven it is prime.
Or in other words it is prime 99.9999999% but .. :)
My personal goal, and my personal search is primes in form k*10^n-1 ( but only few K give "special" primes and those primes called near-repdigit primes ( all but one number is 9 )
Makoto Kamada has a great page about those type of primes ( and that is where I am now)

That is a nice one, Crun-chi.
Do you call it an avatar, or should it more be regarded as being a picture instead?
And also not forgetting the number being visible in the picture as well, of course.
Perhaps you will have this number for me?
Anyway, found it out myself. A quite big prime number, in fact.
Rather I should be checking the front page first for more.
Congrats!
Thanks finnenummer!
Yes, first and as last numbers are visible in picture.
And Santa Claus, as guy that give gifts, and as opposite of this hell heat in my town.
I am waiting to see your prime ( you are not yet) on font page.
Yesterday I start new search, if I found it prime will be between 1.58 and 1.8 M
Congrats to you to , also!
