Was looking through my tasks and clicked on this one since it was the first i have tried and wanted to see the average time. Now i just want to know if i need to abort it or let it keep running and possibly waste another 3 days or so of GPU on it.

http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=304277764

the task it at 23.585% at 22:40:17

I have:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 (1535MB) driver: 30697
Microsoft Windows 7
Ultimate x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00)

should be mostly accurate. have latest driver and all that at least. the GPU is an EVGA that clocks at 1594, which is what it came as.

Any thoughts or reasons why they are all errors?

I'm experiencing trouble with the WR workunits as well.
- I have fixed the wrong card issue (using K20c now)
- I have lowered the block size from 8 or 9 to 5
- latest drivers.

The workunits still error out.
Am I overlooking something ?

edit: shift => block size

BLOCK SIZE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ERRORS OR RELIABILITY.

It's for reducing screen lag, period.

At least until someone comes along and says they cured a problem other than screen lag, don't expect that setting to do anything other than change the speed of the program or the responsiveness of the GUI.

(I'm emphasizing that because you're the second person today talking about that, and there's no point in everyone going out and trying this. That's not the fix.)

For now, we don't fully understand the nature of this problem, but a newer version of the program is in the pipeline and will have updated toolkits and such and may work better.

I'll run it through the debugger as soon as I have a bit more time so there will be an answer to that question.

I'm still working on the CUDA optimization. Looking good.

Some cards come overclocked from the factory. Try underclocking it to the speed of the reference card for that model...might clear up any issues. I had some trouble with my GTX 560 Ti until I did that.

Thank you for that suggestion. I checked, the Tesla K20 comes underclocked. I'll figure out what the error exactly is about. In any case no CRC errors on memory or registers.

I don't believe that OC is the root problem for your new Tesla K20. I think the technically differences to the Fermi architecture causes this and perhaps a recompilation of the existing app against a newer Cuda version is the simplest solution. On the other side were newer Cuda versions mostly reported as slower...

I recompiled the code, made some adjustments for performance and posted the results in this thread:
