First off: There is no set amount of time within which anyone will find a prime, you unfortunately just need to be lucky enough to get the right workunit.

Then again, you can help luck a bit by choosing certain subprojects in your preferences. The projects most likely to give you a prime are Proth Prime Search (PPS LLR) and Sophie-Germain Prime Search (SGS LLR). They are more likely to give you a prime because they are testing relatively small numbers, which means the chances of a number being prime are higher as well as you being able to test more numbers per hour.

All projects you currently have badges for are about large to gigantic prime numbers. This means that not only are the chances smaller of a number you test being prime, you also can only do a lot fewer test in the same time as you could with the smaller numbers.

So why would anyone want to test those large numbers you ask? Because if you find one of those big ones you will end up high in the top 5000 prime numbers of the world and will most likely stay there for quite a while. :) (Or because you want the badges for the related subprojects available here ;))

Also, only some of the projects here find prime numbers. Some of the projects are sieves, which will never, be definition, find a prime number. Their purpose is to rapidly eliminate composite numbers from the pool of candidates that are to be tested for primality. They help the prime finding process, but don't themselves find prime numbers.

So, as Pyrus said, if you want to find your first prime, your best bet is to run PPS-LLR or SGS-LLR.

If you want to put your GPU to work looking for prime numbers, the only GPU projects that find primes are GFN (short or long). On your 570, the short WUs should take about 3 hours and the long worl record WUs about 6 days. (Note that at this moment, the GFN short WU queue appears to have run dry, but that should be fixed soon.)
