From the right to the left ( upper corner) is that lens flare?

Yes it is flare. It was shot into the sun. I'd rather it wasn't there but it isn't the worst fault in the picture. For reference it was shot on Bronica ETRSi with a 40mm lens using Efke 820 Aura film with a 72 filter. |

One reason why this team is head and shoulders above the others (take note there you cows). Those are some really good photos.
As others have said great job and yes KEEP them coming.
ps - a really really really good photo would be of a festival they have over in Europe somewhere or Spain where the entire town takes part in a huge bbq and the only item on the menu is cow - lots and lots of cow :) |

Kinda proud of this one although the tonal range is not easy to appreciate in a scan and it needs squaring in the enlarger. Also done on an ETRSi with a 40mm. I don't recall film; probably Adox or the filter, 29 is entirely possible.

You are very kind Crun-chi. On proper silver paper with decent darkroom technique you can get a lot more tonal range included and only the window is burnt out. Here is another image from the same shoot. Again it needs some work in the dark room but it shows if I may say so some of the joys bestowed only on users of slow film in medium format camera. It is a Bronica ETRSi again with a 40mm. I imagine I'd a 29 filter be on it.
Now let us see more of your work. We have different styles but I like your work and you are giving me inspiration

Tim, in that last photo, what struck me was not so much the b/w and the tones but the actual room. I've always liked mirrors reflecting images. Whoever owns/owned that home like mirrors. I noticed there were 3 on the first wall and then in the reflect of the big mirror there was another which then reflected back what looks like the door way.
It was a great photo. |

Rick I agree with you: mirrors give "shine" to any photo.
With this photo, as Tim say, there is plenty of space to finish it, "polish", but even in this state is more then good. Little more contras, just touch.
Mirror was so hard to make in any ray-tracing program. And before year and half, finally I manage to get n-1 reflection image in ray-tracing program. There was no end of my happiness :)
I know this is not ray-traced image, but when I sow mirrors, I immediately remember how many times I try to get reflection in computer made image :)
There is 21 mine pictures in 4 threads, I will wait one more day, then reduce number of threads, and put five new :)

Room needs less mirror - more canine! Perhaps a greyhound or whippet.
TheDawgz were also interested in the reflections - notably the fact that the photographer managed to avoid capturing their own image.
The one oddly folded pillow on the right hand settee also caught our attention - at first we thought it was an small animal (maybe a cat) with a collar. Thankfully, we were incorrect.

By what right do you call us bastard?
Clearly TheDawgz are not and site the following in our defense of legitimacy.
The Legitimacy Act (1926) allowed children to be legitimised by the subsequent marriage of their parents, provided that neither parent had been married to a third party at the time of the birth. Though repealed - TheDawgz parents fit the criteria.
The Legitimacy Act (1959) Section 1 allowed a child to be legitimised when his parents married, regardless of their past status.
The Legitimacy Act (1959) Section 2 legitimised the children of marriages ruled void, providing those marriages were entered into in good faith. Though also repealed - It is offered in furtherance of our claim to legitimacy as it was to be applied retroactively.
This act basically legitimised (ha ha) the Legitimacy Acts (1926 and 1959) which it repealed - and in so continues our chain of legitimacy.
The Family Law Reform Act (1987) Chapter 42 Part 1 Section 1 Sub-section 3a states: "This subsection applies to any person who is treated as legitimate by virtue of section 1 of the Legitimacy Act 1976 So there - TheDawgz are legit!! Nah nah nah!
Only in a Monarchy would so much time and effort go into defining legitimacy; n'est–ce pas?
harrumph, harrumph! Now as to the photo (if it can even be called one - more akin to a holiday snap) - what is the deal with the womans leg half covered by a pleated mid-calf skirt reflected in the mirror located in the upper left?
Could this be the infamous Erin of whom you speak so kindly of?

Oh don't worry - TheDawgz understood just fine .... yup we got the message ... oh yeah it was very clear ... no problem with with the meaning at all ... came through loud and clear ... the contrast was perfect on that one!
But we still don't have an answer re: the leg. Inquiring minds want to know.
(Warning! If you are easily bored by the ramblings of TheDawgz - skip the rest of this posting)
Well as with many things here in AtP's message boards, you all provide TheDawgz with an opportunity to go off and try to learn (or mis-learn) something new - this time it was a tiny peek into British Law.
Not that TheDawgz will ever have a use for it (we hope) - we now know the difference between a Solicitor and a Barrister. That one can be both and that the work performed by each does have a point of overlap and TheDawgz have the qualifications to be neither.
TheDawgz have also learned that Google is actually very Orwellian - as our most recent searches have been related to "Tokyo Rose" and "Legitimacy in Law" the sidebar advertisements here at PG are now for "Ask a Lawyer Online Now - Questions Answered Every 9 Seconds", "Asian Girls Want To Date You Now In Your Area", "Meet Lesbian Singles", "Revlon makeup products", "HairDirect.com" which promises us that we can manage our hair from home with zero risk and an advert for the Toyota Prius. TheDawgz have no issue with any of the adverts individually, however ....
Pondering the combinations made us yellow our fur again!

Did you also find that there are three completely seperate legal systems in the UK? An English solicitor for example has no rights to act under the Scots legal system which would be just as well as many of words and concepts would be alien. |

Just dipping my toes in the water here. So many great photos; it's a bit intimidating. But, here's the "luckiest" pic I ever took, on a trip to Bhutan in October 2005. Archery is a big deal in Bhutan, and this was a major competition. I happened to grab this 1 millisecond (?) after the release of a shot.
This was taken with a 2002-vintage 2MP digital point-and-shoot.

Speaking of lucky shots...This one was taken nearly 14 years ago on one of the first digital cameras I owned (a Nikon E-900). My son was just holding down the shutter and letting it take pictures as fast as it could (every 1 or 2 seconds). This is from our front porch (I think TheDawgz was lurking underneath even back then)...

Both of those "lucky" shots are incredible. Always amazes me at what a single captured point in time can turn out to reveal. |

I took this on a rest break getting close to the top of Clyde Minaret in the Sierra Nevada, California.
Cecile Lake in the background, 500m vertical below us. Iceberg Lake on the left, another 150m down the mountainside.
Tents are visible above the climber in the blue helmet.... they look like tiny slightly discolored boulders. Very hard to see. All were successful in our climb.

It is not widely known but much of the south east of England is rather dry. Today Erin and I went to one of the wilder and drier parts with a challenging climate of little rain, a very well drained shingle soil and a drying wind. There is a good deal of very rare wild life there. Among other things we saw lots of locally common but generally rare Crambe maritima which are specially adapted for this climate in peak flower.
Edit: It is a good deal sharper and better exposed in the original! |

It is a stylish and well designed camera but I found that I didn't like the 6x6 format. I do far more with a Mamiya RB67 (which really is a big camera to carry) or if I want lightweight a Bronica ETRSi.

You must make compromise. If you remove all noise, you got soft picture. If you leave all noise, there is no improvement :) That is case if you use "commercial software from remove noise"
So for I know, stacking is only option , but in that case software must "know" your RAW image specification, or you will get no benefit from stacking process.

I'm proud you like it Crun-chi.
I'm not sure photos should be analysed. You either enjoy them or not but I think classically I'd have had the whole cannon pointing into the picture. The angled part of the carriage would then also lead the eye into the picture. The way I've taken it the angle leads out of the picture as does the cannon barrel. For me it creates an air of unease in the whole picture.
Incidentally it is a beautiful part of London few people know. On a sunny Friday afternoon it is a nice place to walk and sit. I would not go there on a Saturday night.

It does look a bit Martian doesn't it? It is actually 12 000 ft (3 700m) up Teide in Tenerife. I strongly recommend it.

Sorry. There are so many sodium lights in London that I have to use a strong filter for astrophotos. There's a big cyan cast over the original which is a shame since Arcturus is top right.

No I don't. I expect it'd be very much the same actually. I'd not get the same Kodachrome reds of course. Erin will know exactly where it is (her parents used to live near by). It is not a great distance away and I should go back. Watch this space... |

If I may be permitted, three photos. Around 1PM today space shuttle "Endeavour" (British spelling, after HMS Endeavour) ended its final flight at Los Angeles International Airport. In a few weeks it will be towed through the city and take a permanent home at the California Science Center, downtown L.A. and adjacent to USC. I, along with several thousand others, congregated on low bluffs overlooking the LAX south runway to witness the landing (who needs work on a Friday afternoon!). Millions of others saw Endeavour pass overhead during the prior hour as it made several low fly-bys near various L.A. landmarks.
A final low pass over the airport. Not landing; note the landing gear is still up. Also, note a chase plane and a news helicopter.
A few minutes later, rolling to a stop on the south runway.
And again. See you in a few weeks, I hope!

Space shuttle Endeavour not long after the start of its final voyage from L.A. International Airport to the California Science Center in downtown L.A., late Friday evening, along the city streets of Inglewood and Los Angeles.
A bit farther up the road. I like the lighting and texture.
I have a few more decent ones but I'll hold off a while.

No, that last one really shows the surface (of the "white bit") well, I always thought it was... you know, how it normally looks. Not absolutely polished like an F1 car for obvious reasons, but still fairly smooth. |
