"GFN World Record" is wasting much time and much WU's

Starting "GFN World Record" all went well.
But in the last weeks there are much WU's like this:
http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=254057662
(only 2 users will be happy, 5 will not)
or WU's like this:
http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=256246191
(most users with calculation errors, they are the lucky one's. 2 users have finished after a long time, but they are disappointed)

I don't understand what you're saying, mostly because that's a Cullen LLR WU, not a GFN WU. What's that got to do with GFN?
or WU's like this:

Almost all of the errors are problems that the user can correct. By, far, the biggest problem is caused by Nvidia's 295 and 296 Windows drivers. Fixing this is a high priority for Nvidia, but it's not fixed yet. If your monitor goes to sleep, CUDA programs fail when they start. In older WUs, most of those tasks that failed in a few seconds are due to this problem. With newer WUs, the app waits an hour before failing, so today, most of the tasks fail after about an hour.
The other big error is due to overclocking GPUs. GFN is far more sensitive to overclocking than other applications. Most of the tasks that fail after a long time fail because the GPU is overclocked.
So, yes, there's a LOT of errors, and everything we can do to reduce the number of failures is being done. But the vast majority of the errors occur because of those two problems I mentioned, and the correction for that (for the 295/296 problem, either setting Windows to not turn off the monitors or installing a different video driver, or for the overclocking problem reducing the GPU clock speeds) relies on action being taken by the user.
Most of the errors are preventable -- easily preventable -- by the user. It's surprising that so many don't notice or don't care that their tasks are failing.

OR, in cases such as mine, they have a 550GTX Ti. :P
Yes, these errors are preventable. I've chosen to actually not attempt GFN_WR tasks until I have a more stable system on my end to complete them.
These users are essentially "wasting" their own time by not fixing these problems. This is not a fault on PG's end. | |

Sorry, wrong WU number. But if you want an example for very much errors, take this one:

Nah, that's nothing. Try this one:

Unfortunately, with the 295 driver bug -- compounded by the fact that Nvidia's updater automatically installs that driver on a lot of computers without human intervention -- is causing massive numbers of failures, not just on GFN-WR, but on ALL CUDA WUs on ALL BOINC projects everywhere. It's a huge problem. As you can see from the WU I linked above, it's knocked a few WUs over the 35-task limit. Since that driver was released, a large percentage of the WUs exceed the 15 task limit.

The subproject "GFN World Record" isn't a good choice. In my case i spent 3,5 days of graphic power with my GTX 580, sent a successfully completed result back to project, but no wingmen with a valid result was found and my graphic power was wasted and not honored by project!

My 2nd Workunit is also finished and still in pending, i hope it will find a wingman with a valid result.

If no wingmen needed than everybody is responsible for his own computer-equipment. This is better in case of this subproject.

That's only temporary. Usually within 24 hours the task limit will be automatically increased from 15 to 50, and additional tasks will be sent out. You will receive credit eventually as long as the result your computer returned is correct.
It's unfortunate that the Nvidia 295/296 Windows driver is causing so many errors, but that mostly only affects the people whose GPUs are no longer able to run CUDA work. The effect on the rest of us is minimal since those errors occur relatively quickly.

Thanks for this information, then i will start a 3rd Workunit for GFN World Record.

I wish I could get errors in GFN, with a 32 bit windows and AMD GPU I cannot even try for a badge in these without buying a new computer.
Will 32 bit or ATI versions ever be available? I doubt it, it is not worth writing them.
I will have to wait for the tax refund!

I believe that Michael Goetz is working on an OpenCL version that would make ATI/AMD cards a possibility. Once that is done, and assuming that your CPU is 64-bit capable, you could always consider a WUBI install or a dual-boot into the flavor of Linux that you prefer.

Don't despair - hopefully there will be progress during the coming 2-4 weeks.
Keep your 5x00 AMD GPU & 32bit Windows, it'll be useful.
