GFN SIEVE STATISTICS
JimB has put together an awesome webpage with detailed information about sieving status at N=1048576, N=2097152, and N=4194304. It has details about how much everyone has done, how much is left to do, and how that translates into time we don't have to spend crunching on our GPUs.

You can of course click on any table header to sort the table by that column. Click again to reverse the direction of the sort.
There are only 35 people doing the sieving for N=1048576 to N=4194304. See this thread for information on how you can start sieving. |

I think more people would start Sieving, if we would have a Cuda- or at least a Linux32/64-app.
On the other hand are the instructions not really intuitive. IMO, i must invest to much manual work and the reservation has to be done on another web-site.
I prefer the BOINC or PRPnet way. One setup and you get work until a port or subproject is dry or closed...

Even only for cpu but in prpnet would increase work progress. Imho. ;) |

Unfortunately the sieving program being used, David Underbakke's AthGfn64B306, is only available for 64-bit Windows. Even worse, you can't pass parameters via the command line, only by using the GUI window. John has inquired with David about rewriting AthGFN64 as a command-line application, but David has too many other things on his plate at the moment.
The instructions aren't as bad as they look. The only thing I worry about (and always double-check) is to make sure I'm putting in all fifteen zeroes on the P values.
I'm currently resieving N=4194304 from 0-55P to see how the web page would look with that data (the factor files weren't kept). As soon as that's done I'm putting 8 cores back onto sieving new ranges. I just picked up over 500,000 credits (and a shiny gold PSA badge) for last month's efforts. |

The PSA credit rate is indeed very good! And you can run AthGFNSv in a virtual machine on Mac and Linux - If you want to do this PM me and I'll help you set it up.

I run it in a VM even though I'm already running Windows! It makes it easier to start/stop (especially multiple cores) when I need to reboot the PC or just stop the sieve for any reason. I also sieve large ranges at a time, so I only have to start/stop every ten days or so. It's not that big a hassle if you manage it properly.
The only problem with running Windows in a VM is you need a copy of Windows to run in the VM. Fortunately, there's that Windows 8 preview you can download from MSFT...
EDIT: I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have a command line version and also have builds for Linux and Mac.

I do have f4197304-2110T-54245T.txt as I wrote you in PM.
Yes, putting all zeros for each of dozens cores made me sometimes crazy, I can remember that.
Command-line version was not available for similar reason - AthGfn64 was intended to be short-lived application. Which basically is comparing tpsieve or similar.
