FYI... BOINCstats has a feature that allows teams to create "team challenges". Well, PrimeGrid has finally been chosen by a team as their challenge project. Please see below and join up if your team is interested.
Name: Prime Grid Extra
Project: PrimeGrid
Issued by: Turan@BOINC
Start time: 2010-08-30 20:00 GMT
End time: 2010-09-03 20:00 GMT
Late entrants allowed?: Yes
Current Teams participating
From BOINCstats:
How does a team join a team challenge?
The founder of a team can enter a team into a challenge.
The team founder (here on BOINCstats) is the person who is founder of the team in most projects. To check who is the team founder, find your team on the profile pages and go to the profile. The founder is listed on the team profile page.
The team founder has a extra section in his BAM! menu (Team founder) and in that section he will find the Challenges. Once there everything is self explanatory.
If your team is already at PrimeGrid crunching, might as well sign up and join the fun! :)
NOTE: This is not affiliated with PrimeGrid's Challenge series.

So far there are 10 teams registered in the Prime Grid Extra "team challenge" at BOINCstats. Surely there are more than 10 active teams at PrimeGrid. ;)
Since you are already at PrimeGrid crunching, might as well sign up and join the fun! :) Touch base with your team founder and have them register at BOINCstats. Instructions are in the first post here.
The most teams to participate in a "team challenge" is 43. Notice that's a prime number. Maybe we can push it up to the next prime, 47??? :D

Their restriction that only team founders can sign up limits participation.

Once I've worked out how to sign up Team AggieThePew will have a go. We've probably space for one or two members on the team...

I don't think it can be working right; AggieThePew aren't in last place. |

Not exactly, only BOINCstats team founders can sign up! Those are the people who has founded the same team name in the most projects. If you are not that person, then good luck trying to find that person and getting them to sign your team up for a challenge. (The leader of mine does not exist in BOINCstats or any of my projects that I have crunched.)
The other negative aspect is that BOINCstats does not recognize the subprojects (unlike Free-DC) as a SOB challenge would be great! |

Challenge Update
Almost half way through the "Team" Challenge and the top 10 teams are:
- PrimeSearchTeam
- BOINC@Poland
- L'Alliance Francophone
- Duke University
- Team China
- AMD Users
- Turan@BOINC
- Team Musketeers
- Aggie The Pew
- Team Starfire World BOINC
Currently, only 27 teams are participating. Our goal still is to reach 47 teams. :) Yesterday, over 500 teams were active at PrimeGrid. Surely we can get just 20 more teams to participate??? ;)
Late entrants are allowed so it's not too late to still sign up for the second half. If your team is interested, please see the first post.

The big problem is to contact your teams founder and have them sign up the team. If anyone could sign up their team it would be better.
Redundant, but I'm old so it's OK

Well AggieThePew have given people a head start and are just tying one paw behind their backs and will shortly give chase. |

Can a team founder sign up for this without actually having to set up BAM on their system first? I would like to add Raiders of the Lost Primes to the challenge, but since I only have one computer on BOINC it seems rather superfluous to set up BAM.
Edit: I don't see ROLP listed under the R's on BOINCStats' profile listings. Do I need to make the team BOINC-wide for it to show up?
Max :-)

Okay, I've made ROLP BOINC-wide; it's propagating to all the projects now. Hopefully it will then show up on BOINCStats shortly.
Quick question about BAM: if I sign up for a BAM account and don't attach my BOINC client to it, will that mess anything up? I would prefer to continue managing my BOINC client locally rather than via BAM. |

You don't have to use the Boinc Account Manager if you have a BAM!-account.
To be sure you could disable Use BAM's AMS functions
Advantages with a BAM!-account stay: You can issue and join challenges, when you are a teamfounder and you can send Private Messages.

Okay, I've registered for a BAM! account with the same name and email address as on all my BOINC projects. Will it automatically recognize my team and put me down as its founder, or do I have to create the team again at BAM!?
(BTW, I did disable AMS functions as suggested--will that affect whether it recognizes the team automatically?) |

Ah, okay. It seems, then, that I just need to wait for my team to show up in BOINCStats and then the "Team Founder" menu will appear. Currently, Raiders of the Lost Primes does not show up in the R section of the Team Profiles page; how long does it usually take for these things to show up? I just made the team BOINC-wide yesterday, but we've been crunching on PrimeGrid for a few weeks now.
What's confusing is that even though ROLP doesn't appear in the Team Profiles listing, it does come up when I search on its name in the little box at the top-left corner of the page; its page at BOINCStats is here. Does BOINCStats need to do its own import of the BOINC-wide teams list before it will recognize me as the founder? |

I don't know what's wrong there.
Asking for your team-profile (doesn't exist really) http://boincstats.com/bam/view_team_profile.php?teamhash=f60a675742dfbd100c4e0967cb42f5f6,
I don't see a teamfounder and 0 members. That's probably the reason, that your team do not show up on the profile pages.
Perhaps it's better to ask in BOINCstats threads how that can be solved.

It says I don't have enough credit to post in the forum. :-| Will it stay like that forever unless I use BAM!'s AMS functions? (ugh)
Meanwhile, though, here's a better link to the stats for my team:
http://boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_stats.php?pr=bo&st=0&to=100&teamid=f60a675742dfbd100c4e0967cb42f5f6

Interestingly enough, my user stats page at BOINCStats does show me as a member of ROLP (just not the founder--though I don't know if this page displays that info anyway):
