Message 21539 - Posted: 5 Mar 2010 | 7:46:43 UTC

With this new atom CPU (dual core 1.66GHz, 1MB L2 cache & hyperthreading), does anyone know what the performance would be like for finding primes?

By primes I really mean proths and SG Primes, as they are the least intensive to run.

Thanks!

No real experience values here, but you could try to compare the geekbench values for the primalty test (http://browse.geekbench.ca).

An Atom D510 has:

Primality Test
single-threaded scalar 761
113.7 Mflops

Primality Test
multi-threaded scalar 1901
352.8 Mflops

compared to an Core 2 with the same speed 1.66GHz:

Primality Test
single-threaded scalar 2636
393.7 Mflops

Primality Test
multi-threaded scalar 3953
733.6 Mflops

The boinc whetstones/drystones should be around 700/1000 for the atom.

I have an N270 and it completes the PPS LLR units in the 8,000-13,000 second range. Your performance should be slightly better.

Hi,

So it's about 3 hours for a proth test.

Is that considered the extended PPS range (for top 5000 primes)?.

Cheers!

about 8,000 secs for PPS extended and 13,000 for regular PPS.

I thought PPS extended took longer... they are the ones most likely to be a top 5000 prime, right?

I have a C2D 2.2GHz and it takes from 10 to 15 minutes to crunch a PPS LLR WU, about 5-9 minutes for PPS LLR Extended...so Atom looks to be very slow, because my computer is not the fastest...
