This is the reservation thread for the Factorial Prime Search sieving. This is a combined sieve of the form n!± 1 for n<1M. For more information about the Factorial Prime Search, please see this forum post.
Before reserving a range, please visit the Welcome thread for instructions. NOTE: Manual BOINC cobblestones are available for this sieve. Also, this sieve is best suited for 64 bit OS machines.
- fsieve_2530G is the current sieve file and can be found here: Factorial Sieve file. Also get the fpsieve.bat file (fpsieve.sh for Linux).
- fpsieve 0.2.4 is the current version we are using and can be downloaded here: Factorial Sieve Software

User Stats for manual ranges
To reserve a range, simply post in this thread the range you wish to reserve, using the following format for your message: Reserving Range Username. For example: Reserving 4510G-4520G Lennart

Review other reservation posts before selecting a range. Also, check to make sure you have the latest sieve file.

Updating the sieve file
Stop fpsieve. Download the new sieve file and unzip. Edit the -i switch in the .bat (.sh for Linux) file to the new sieve file name. Restart fpsieve.

Process Priority Switch
Default is not to change process priority.
-zz sets lowest priority (nice 20, Low)
-z sets low priority (nice 10, Below Normal)
-Z sets high priority (nice -10, Above Normal)
-ZZ sets highest priority (nice -20, High)
Sample Rates - fsieve_500G sieve file
i7 920 - 1G range in ~7 hours, about 40-41Kp/s and -t4.
E5420 2,5GHz, Windows x64 - 1G range in ~12 hours, about 22,7k p/sec with -t3
Q6600 2,4GHz, Windows x64 - 1G range in ~12 hours, about 22,4k p/sec with -t3
GTX460 - 1G range in ~3 hours, parameters -n1 -N1e6 -t1 -b1000 -s16000
HD7970 - 1G range in ~1,5 hours, parameters -n10 -N1e6 -t2 -b32 -s45056
