This is just a little bump to highlight the top 3 priorities.

Proth Prime Search LLR (PPS) is going fairly well. However, we can always use more power there. Fortunately, PPS is in BOINC and that's the easiest for people to participate in.

PRPNet, on the other hand, requires a little "adventure" and determination...but still, quite easy to implement. 2 of the top 3 priorities are on PRPNet.

12121 Prime Search LLR (121) only needs 5-10 cores to fulfill our goal...so that's a relatively easy one to reach. A more difficult goal to reach is for Proth Prime Search Extended LLR (PPSE). Luckily for everyone, it is also the one that produces the fastest results.

If you're looking for Top 5000 primes, the Proth Prime Search Extended LLR (PPSE) is the place to be.

Recent stats on port 9000 show the following:

1-2 Top 5000 primes per core every 10 days
1-2 Top 5000 primes per dual core every 5 days
1-2 Top 5000 primes per quad core every 2-3 days
1-2 Top 5000 primes per dual quad core every 1-2 days
1-2 Top 5000 primes per 10 cores every 1 day

A user with 1 quad 24/7 can expect to find 1 to 2 Top 5000 primes every 5 days.

For more information about PRPNet, please see this thread. Manual BOINC credit is available. Additionally, at this time, there is no double checking in PRPNet so you'll always be the primary finder of your primes. :)

Best of Luck!

I started cruching with PRPNet on the PPSE project last night. It is going well.

I see "maual boinc credit is available". What does that mean? If I set up PRPNet according to the instructions (specifying my email and Boinc username), is that all I have to do to get credit? Or is there something more I need to do?

thanks,

Nothing else. As long as we can match you to your PG userid, you'll receive credit. Note: since it's a manual process, credit will take a while to be awarded...6-8 weeks minimum.

Just seen my RAC crack 3200 for the first time (excuse me for a moment-- one of the celerons just caught fire)-- I'm thinking I might upgrade one of the P3's-- change the CPU,MB,Ram &Power supply -- then fit an i7 CPU with new MB, DDR3 Ram & Power Supply-- It will still be a P3 won't it ???-- It says so on the case (Plll)

What is the difference between PPSE and PPS? I don't see PPSE listed in my preferences for work units and I've done over 500 PPS work units and only managed to find 1 prime and that was only a double check.

Just recently one part of PPSE joined PPS in BOINC. Therefore, if you select PPS LLR in your PrimeGrid preferences, you'll receive work from either project. PPSE remains available in PRPNet which still offers the best chance of finding primes. :)

BOINC
PPS is currently at n~641K
PPSE is currently at n~451K

PRPNet has the following ports available for PPSE
port 7171: loaded with 500K<n<501K
port 9000: loaded with 501k<n<502k
port 10000: loaded with 90K<n<92K

Proth Prime Search LLR (PPS) is BOINC available and searches for primes of the form k*2^n+1 for 4<k<1200 and n<5M. It's open to 32 bit and 64 bit OS's. If you wish to participate, please select the "Proth Prime Search (LLR)" in your PrimeGrid preferences page.

Proth Prime Search Extended LLR (PPSE) is PRPNet available and searches for primes of the form k*2^n+1 for 1200<k<10000 and n<2M. It's open to 32 bit and 64 bit OS's. If you wish to participate, please see this thread. Manual BOINC credit is available.

Hi geenik

From one participant to another welcome.

One in 535 trials to find a prime is pretty darn good. Usually on PPS it is nearer 1 in 4000. They say that PPSE has a better chance but I've never found one...

It is a slow process (I thought PrimeGrind would be a better name) but rather neat to come up with something as beautiful as a prime no one has seen before.

Cheers!

Cheers!

T

G'Day geenik & Tim --blessing upon you both--- Yeah I was a bit shocked to see anyone turn up a prime after 535 WU's -- took me 7000 to get my first -- and I think its about 15000 WU's since my last-- but we keep crunching -- any how welcome mate--- and good luck from the land of OZ!!!

Actually! -- I just did the maths -- I'm running at an average of 4493 WU's to a prime number.

Rat Power rules DoES! Those little verminous legs running in the treadmills* have me currently on one prime per 4174 WUs.

*As I've said before rats are too smart to run treadmills; they know they won't get anywhere. I laugh at the expression ratrace when I see a pile of rats all snoozing while I'm suited and booted and hyped up for work.

Still I hardly ever get widdled on in my sleep.

Yeah well I did get all the gekkos lined up on a treadmill the other day but a particularly tasty variety of moth flew by and it was the the last I saw of the little buggers---

Thats a good average you have there-- I think roadrunner might have dumped his bad luck on me--- I have 20 cores going now and this is the longest spell without a prime I've had for a while -- 8 days now I think--

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have 12 cores dedicated to Primegrid right now, 2 quad cores (1x 3ghz Q9450, 1x 2.4ghz Q6600), an AMD 3800+ x2 and a dual core Atom 330. My Q9450 is doing PPS LLR via BOINC and the Q6600 is doing PPSE through PRPNet, so we'll see how quickly the primes come in. ;) Also, where do I see stats for PRPNet?

It's kinda depressing watching PRPNet run all day and say XXX is not prime over and over and over. LOL.

Ahh but think of diamonds, geeknik. They are beautiful things. Intrinsically they are beautiful but their rarity makes them more beautiful yet. Likewise primes.

DoES I now have a cage of rats flicking fingers, doing high fives and shouting about K-T events. Do you know what is going on?

Cheers!

Very ominous Tim-- The gekko's recently formed a co-operative society and issued me with a list of demands-- Extra lights left on -- removal of fly screens etc -- If I agree to their demands they will allow me to continue living in my house.

It is always worrying DoES.

It turned out that the ratty posturing was because they had powered the computers into finding another new prime and so they thought they had pulled one over on the geckos.

Still it is wise to be wary. I'm mortified to say that one of my rat babies bit my younger daughter so hard that daughter had to go to hospital last night (because the wound was still open days later) while said daughter was tickling the matriarch rat and baby was jealous. It is not the kind of behaviour I expect to see from any rat especially not well brought up ladies.

I'd sentence the rat babe to the treadmill if I thought it'd work. Maybe more beer would be better.

G'Day Tim -- mindful of the hijacking rules (and this thread is well and truely hijacked) we should probably move to the general discussion area where the hidden agendas of rats & gekko's might be examined in detail--- since I have explained to the gekko's that I pay the bloody power bills -- I now hear them chanting -- "DoES Giver of Light" "DoES Giver of Light" I am well on my way to being a deiety here!!!

is there a way to request a 121-1 number from port 5000, versus a 27-1 number, or are we just stuck with whatever the server spits out next?

thanks.

PRPNet server sends them out by how many digits the number have.
You could say the lowes n first.

Question, when or will Primorial Prime Search ever be available for a Top Priority, since there is the 12121 Prime Search I am curious about the Primorial, since well personally I enjoy the Primorial better but just curious is it to much in its infancy to be released as a main Bonic sieve possibility in the future and what time table would that be if so? Lastly, could you compare 12121 Prime Search with Primorial Prime Search Sieves based on how far along we are since isn't Primorial farther along, I could be wrong though thats why I ask. Thanks :)

I'll tell you what I can and I'll let John and Lennart answer the rest.

Unless a modification is done to the BOINC client, searching for Primorial Primes will be limited to PRPNet 2.x. PRPNet 2.x supports the PFGW software, the only software at this time that can do a PRP/primality test on primorials. I'd love to get that kind of functionality into phrot, but that would be very difficult and my focus now is on eliminating the bug that has halted the GCW13 effort.

One thing you might have noticed is that the Primorial sieving effort is much slower than other forms. That is because you don't have such handy tricks as a discrete log to quickly determine which k/b/n combinations are divisible be each p. IIUC, they are waiting for the Primorial sieve to reach 500G before setting up a new PRPNet server. I had estimated (early on) that the optimal sieve depth for the search is around 1P (1e15) while it is right now around 3.5e11. This will probably be adjusted to a lower value based upon the removal rate, but I suspect that it will be at least 1e14. The higher end primes in the sieve are about 3 million decimal digits and will take a week or so to run on the fastest computers today. These tests take about 3x more time than a test for k*b^n+/-1 numbers.

Mark covered the main points. As for top priority, we must first get primorial into PRPNet. This may soon happen since PRPNet 2.0.4 has been released. However, it may take quite a while to reach the status of "top priority" since we still have plenty of sieving left to do. Right now, primorial has a much greater chance of reaching "top sieve priority" versus "top LLR priority".

Thank you two guys for answering the questions I had, but oh my god over a week on very very fast computers which means 2 weeks per WU on my 5 computers would not be cool. So is that really what it will be at even after the sieves? My god thats higher then Cullen, Woodall, and PSP all together lol. But then again it sounds like it would give a very high prime if found right? or wrong?

That is what the high-end numbers will take, but it will take many years to get there. The next primorial to be found (presuming one wasn't missed) will be in the Top 5000 for a long time. It will probably be in the Top 20 Primorial list forever. IIRC, the largest primorial in the sieve is about 3,000,000 decimal digits.

One thing that people running the sieve have noticed is that numbers don't sieve very well. In the k*b^n+/-1 searches sieving typically removes 90% to 99% of the candidates that you start with. Primorial sieving will be significantly less. I expect less than 30% of the candidates to removed through sieving and the percentage will probably be even lower than that.

I am using BOINC and it does not seem to be a way to know the results of the LLR tests (composite or prime) nor which primes exactly are we testing (in my case Proth numbers k*2^n+1, i want to know the k and n, and the result of the test). I am aware than most people do not care to know it , but there should be a way for people interested in it.

This data is not displayed because of prime stealing - we grant first chance to report a prime to the prime pages to the first checker. In case the result is not a prime, you see the number in your results page; if it is a prime, you either get an email (if you are a singlechecker), or you can find the number in the results page (once it is reported). Primes are also listed in your account in the Top Prime Finders page in the left column.

Hi Rytis,
Where can I find my results page please? Will it show only recent tests or are all of the WUs I've processed be shown?
Thanks,
Peter
P.S. I haven't crunched any LLR WUs since befoere the last challenge, but here's one http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=69570157 that is still in my task list - I can't see the k.2^n+1 form here anywhere.

I have to say that I'm rather intrigued by this statement if you are talking about PPS LLR--- I have looked at the results page and this gives a rather incomprehensible statement of what occured with each WU but never the actual number you might have crunched--

I've been crunching PPS LLR for 6 months non stop now-- I have always considered -- if it wasn't prime then chuck it in the bin -- i think the additional data some people want in PPS is limited by server bandwidth and programming resources-- we are a relatively small community--- My small farm of "boat anchors" processes about 1500 PPS LLR WU's per day-- multiply this across the whole PG community and the ability to provide additional data on PPS would be an enormous drain on the PG server and other resources--- I personally am happy to know when I find a prime number -- I have done the maths-- I get a prime about every 4600 WU's on PPS LLR

I have looked at the results page and this gives a rather incomprehensible statement of what occured with each WU but never the actual number you might have crunched--

Turns out the information wasn't added for the newer projects. I'll look into it ASAP :)

I still think that a short message with the parameters of the number ((k,n) in the case of Proths numbers) and its status prime or composite before uploading to server would be no bandwidth consuming depending of how it would be implemented .It would just be a nice information to let people know that their help counts and would satisfie people´s curiosity and mine. I like to see what i (my computer) is doing and keep record of it.

As Rytis has stated its probably not a big problem---- As I mentioned in a post a long time ago ---- I am much more interested in which of my hosts got which prime---

Me too.
This would be a very cool statistic and i could reward my hosts with extra diskspace from my SAN based on the result... ;)
Or maybe i crown the winner of an internal challenge...
Anyways it would be cool!

As seen here: http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=70760011 the 2 "completed" results did not match. Currently, the outcome is inconclusive. Therefore, the WU is waiting on a 3rd result to see which previous result is correct. Once there are 2 matching results, the WU will be validated.

Does that mean that one of the WU determined that the number was composite and the other determined that the number is prime (a check ans a double check?)

Typically it means two different residues, which can happen if one of the machines is over-clocked and experienced a rounding error. It is EXTREMELY unlikely that a failed test would report a PRP or prime on a composite number. It can happen though, which is why independent verification is used before unequivocally stating that a number is prime.

Top LLR Priority Update

The first post has been updated. The top LLR priority remains the Proth Prime Search (PPS).

PPS actually has two levels of n being processed...n~460K and n~660K. It is the lower n level that we are paying attention to. Currently, primes found at this level can expect to spend 16 weeks on the Top 5000 list. We'd like to boost that buffer up to 26 weeks. This means advancing from 460K to 489K which is where the 26 week buffer is right now. So you can see, there's a tremendous amount of work to crunch to get there.

Please consider placing some extra resources with PPS LLR.

EDIT: Maybe even tell a friend or two...or university or company. ;)

Maybe the upper range - i mean the smaller k - of ppsLLR could be put on hold until the lower range - here i mean the larger k - has caught up?

Apart from the usual BOINC PPS tasks called "pps_llr_xxxxxxx.x", I seem to be getting PPS tasks (also via BOINC) which are called "pps_llr_extended_xxxxxxx.x". These seem to be the shorter, n~460K tasks. Is this how they are distinguished in BOINC or have PPSE tasks started in BOINC now?

"pps_llr_xxxxxxx.x" tasks are generated from 4<k<1200 (n~660K currently) and "pps_llr_extended_xxxxxxx.x" tasks are generated from 1200<k<10000 (n~460K currently).

Generally, the overall project is called Proth Prime Search (PPS) and more specifically we call 4<k<1200 PPS and 1200<k<10000 PPSE.

PPSE has been running in BOINC for several months now. It also continues in PRPNet with different n ranges.

Yes, they are still current. Although good progress is being made, the priority remains high for PPS and PPSE (PRPNet).

Top LLR Priority Update

The top LLR priority remains the Proth Prime Search (PPS).

However, we have added on a secondary level the Sophie Germain Prime Search (LLR) and the Prime Sierpinski Prime Search (LLR). You can read why PSP LLR has been added here.

Please consider placing some extra resources with PPS LLR.

New updated question, the "Generalized Cullen/Woodall Prime Search Base 13 LLR (GCW13)" is in PRPNET, how is it progressing so far now that its been in operation for some time? Is it about time for it to hit boinc or will it be possible to ever hit boinc? Second question is when you work on different projects in PRPNET and say you find a prime, are you emailed and told what that prime is at all? If not how are you notified? And lastly would it be possible to add any primes you find in PRPNET to the Primes list that is personalized for each account member that we already have in place, I don't think it would be that hard but then again implementation could be a completely different story, if it is hard would someone be up to the coding task for compensation?

It's progressing well and will remain in PRPNet for now. You can follow progress here:

port 12004: GCW13 Server : User : Pending Tests

Also, each month around the 13th there's a Mini-Challenge. You can read more about it here: GCW13 Mini-Challenge

Second question is when you work on different projects in PRPNET and say you find a prime, are you emailed and told what that prime is at all?

Yes.

And lastly would it be possible to add any primes you find in PRPNET to the Primes list that is personalized for each account member that we already have in place,...

Yes, it is a possibility.

Yes.

I haven't found this to be the case, at least for all primes. I've picked up three baby primes on PRPNet's PPS, the kind that are guaranteed not to make the Top 5000. Any information gathered about them came from the log files. I've received no mails about them. My best guess is that only Top 5000 candidates generate emails.

So then heres a dumb question but needs to follow the 2nd to last post here, Are there any current PRPNET projects, the ones finding primes I mean that currently don't give top 5000 primes? And if so which ones don't give out even top 5000 let alone Mega primes? Thanks John for allowing the possibility to have primes found in PRPNET added to a users personal Primes page I appreciate that greatly my friend :) I think for the projects I've done its just been finding factors in which case I don't need to know them unless its like Boincs AP24 project in which case I think in the future we should be able to click on AP 21 through 25 to see which ones we've found, but that might be wishful thinking on my part, opinions? Ideas?

All PRPNet projects find primes. Information about what each project does can be found here and here, Progress for each project can be found in the same link here. Detailed user and daily stats can be found here courtesy of Sysadm@Nbg.

Only two ports do not make it into the Top 5000 Primes database. Port 10000 and 11000. However, if any of those primes have (x)GFN divisibilities or is a Fermat divisor, then yes, they will make the Top 5000 Primes database as a special case.

Primes found in all other ports will make the Top 5000 Primes database either for size or for special form.

Here's a buzzkill question, though: what's the point of doing work on these ports? Primes discovered this way seem to disappear into the aether: they don't get listed in the Top 5000, they don't show up in my PrimeGrid account, they don't get appended to any secret prime lists. What happens to baby primes?

Each prime found in those ports has the potential of being a Fermat divisor. Although chances are small, it would be a significant find.

Other possibilities are that they may be generalized Fermat divisors or extended generalized Fermat divisors. All divisor information is recorded at Wilfrid Keller's sites:

And yes, there's still a possibility that these primes will be included in PrimeGrid's database which means they'll show up in your primes list and contribute to your counts and scores.

Another noob question but whats the difference between the SGS LLR were doing in Boinc and PRPNET's port: 12000; Sophie Germain Prime Search: (k*2^666666-1);

So each SGS that we complete could be added to the Boinc SGS LLR then along with if we find a prime, possibly at some point in time maybe??

Only two ports do not make it into the Top 5000 Primes database. Port 10000 and 11000. However, if any of those primes have (x)GFN divisibilities or is a Fermat divisor, then yes, they will make the Top 5000 Primes database as a special case.

Primes found in all other ports will make the Top 5000 Primes database either for size or for special form.

Does port 10K really not make it into the top list? n > 500,000, and n is bigger even than current PPSE work on BOINC. I'd think, if anything, 10K numbers would rank higher.

As of March, the range was changed to n > 500K. Previously n was around 110K. Therefore, yes, now primes found on that port make the Top 5000 primes list. Several have been found already. :)

S.O.S. for PPS!!!

With the recent addition of new projects, resources have been redistributed to "welcome" them to PrimeGrid. Both the Riesel problem (LLR and Sieve) in BOINC and the extended Sierpinksi problem in PRPNet are a nice fit here. We are excited to be running them.

However, we have run into a short term problem. The PPS LLR project in BOINC, which includes PPSE, is in jeopardy of falling off the top 5000 list. We have been slowly progressing towards this dilemma for quite a while now. The original intent was to run PPSE up to n=500K and then reset to a higher n level...one that would give at least a 26 week cushion in the top 5000 list.

We thought n=500K was in reach but the redistribution of resources really slowed progress.

n=500K is no longer possible. Furthermore, n=495K (which is in the WU queue) may be difficult to reach before falling off the list. Therefore, a request is being made for additional resources to be placed on PPS LLR for the next 24 hours. With enough help, we can close out to n=495K and, at the same time, still have the primes be registered in the top 5000 list.

To participate in the 24 hour S.O.S., please select only the Proth Prime Search (LLR) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section.

All cores set to focus on PPS LLR units (except for the CUDA GPU cores of course). Thought this might be an issue when the PPSE prime I found yesterday entered the list at position 4098!

Can you put the SOS on the 'PrimeGrid preferences' page like for Riesel)?

As I understand the status page, the current n is 493182.
How many WUs for each n, and, more importantly, how many WUs are required to up to n=500K done?

S.O.S. for PPS!!! Update

The 24 hour S.O.S. was very successful. The daily output of PPS LLR was doubled. To move that many computers in such a short period of time is truly amazing! Thank you to everyone who contributed.

A small buffer has been established and a few primes were able to be reported before they fell off the Top 5000 list. Only one prime missed the cutoff. However, we're not out of the woods yet.

How many WUs for each n, and, more importantly, how many WUs are required to up to n=500K done?

Each 1K range of n is ~162K candidates (324K with double check). At our current rate, we should be able to complete to 495K in the next 1.5-2 days. I'm not sure we can sustain this rate in order for us to reach 500K. Two sections have previously been tested: 497K-498K and 499K-500K. Therefore, that leaves 495K-497K and 498K-499K. That's at least another 1.5-2 weeks.

Our current plan is to stop at 495K and jump to 600K. Skipping ranges is never an ideal solution. However, it's necessary if we wish to keep primes reportable to the Top 5000 list.

The driving force behind the PPSE project is to provide PrimeGrid participants the "best" opportunity at finding Top 5000 primes. Ironically, the success of all of PrimeGrid's projects has made this increasingly more difficult.

At current rates (which are subject to change), primes found at the following n levels will last this long on the list:

n=565K will last 26 weeks
n=600K will last 39 weeks
n=620K will last 45 weeks
n=635K will last 50 weeks
n=641K will last about 1 year

These are probably worst case scenarios. Primes may actually last longer on the list. Another solution discussed is to cut the k range down to 5K from 10K. Therefore, PPSE would become 1200<k<5000. This may allow the search to get comfortably ahead of the cutoff.

Please post any thoughts you'd like to share on this topic.

To participate in the extended S.O.S., please select only the Proth Prime Search (LLR) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section.

I disagree. PPSE is close enough to n=500K that it should complete the range. How about having an "April Fool's" Challenge in an effort to complete the range by April 1st? At that point you can insert n>600K into the queue.

I agree that once you get to n=500K to only search k < 5000 or maybe even 2000 as an upper bound.

Due to a rash of primes submitted today by other searchers outside of PrimeGrid, our buffer has been erased and another prime has missed the cutoff. Even with the increased output, we are not able to keep up.

EDIT: Even though primes miss the Top 5000 list, they still make PrimeGrid's primes list.

We apologize to those whose primes will not make it into the Top 5000 list. We'll continue to monitor the situation. You can follow the most up-to-date rankings here: 4900th-5000th primes

Primes submitted in the last 24 hours can be viewed here: Prime Verification Status - 24 hours

FYI, I estimate that kmax must be at least 2300+kmin for the CPU version of PPSieve to be more effective than sr2sieve. (Though a GPU version is always more effective than nothing.)

This is not my motivation nor is the boinc credit so just finding a prime is sufficient. But increasing the credit may sway other people.

Just got a prime (8051*2^494833+1) and entered 4999 on the list! Must enjoy the status while it lasts! More seriously I see we are going above 495K as '9605*2^495007+1 is not prime.' Thanks for doing that!

It's actually rather ironic: the 'success' of all the projects have caused their own lack of success. How many non-AP primes have been in the PG news the last few months?

Yeah, yeah, it's all probability, etc etc etc. But if you're like me, you bounce between too many projects in search of a quick win, sampling too many and savouring none.

Let finish the 500K, even if for one or two weeks it is not possible to enter the Top 5000.

After that jumping to n=600K and reducing the upper limit of k to 5000 or less seems also to be a good idea.

Yes, it will remain a priority until n=500K is reached. Currently, the leading edge is just under n=497K.

Yes, after further discussion and consultation, we have decided to take a tiered approach. It was determined that skipping n ranges was the least attractive option to do. After reviewing the error rate (<0.5%) for PPS/PPSE LLR, we decided to remove double checks for 1200<k<10000. This should allow the search to progress twice as fast as it was. As is already established policy, all residues will be retained should a double check be needed in the future.

If PPS is unable to remain above the Top 5000 cutoff, the next action will be to reduce the search range. The new range would be 1200<k<5000. Should this fail as well, then n ranges will be skipped as a last resort.

Can we get an update on the top post perhaps? I think thing have changed a bit since mar 2009, and its cumbersome to scroll thru the entire list to find the most recent update. Just a suggestion.

Happy crunching!

Update

The top BOINC LLR priority remains the PPS LLR. This will remain so until we reach July's 24 hour "Full Moon" Challenge. It would be beneficial to get PPSE as high as possible between now and then so as to lessen the stress on the server. PPSE LLR candidates are still pretty short even at n~510K. With enough focus, it is possible to reach n=550K for the Challenge. If you have the extra resources, please consider doing a little PPS LLR work...and along the way to 550K, maybe find a few primes for yourself. :)

As for PRPNet, 27121 remains the top priority. The goal is to complete up to 2.5M and then split 27 and 121 out into their own ports. You can find more info here. Honorable mentions for PRPNet are the GCW Search and the ESP Search.

For more information, please see: Top LLR Priorities

Challenge project will be Proth Prime Search (Sieve) in BOINC. Current tasks are already PPSE work and will actually be combined PPS(E)/RSP work by december.

Not every problem can be usefully implemented for GPUs.
PPSE (Proth Prime Search Extended) seems to be a LLR-project. Means no GPU only CPU.

Ohh, my mistake.
I was confused because you asking a Sieve-question inside a LLR-thread...

That's my bad. I was also assuming the next challenge was a LLR before Pschoefer pointed out it is a Sieve.
Sorry for the offtopic.

The final week of January's PRPNet focus project has arrived and we are still 3 primes short of the monthly goal. We have so far found 5 primes at N=32768 but none at N=65536, N=262144, or N=524288. There's still some time for someone to find PG's first GPU prime. For more information about the GFN Prime Search, please see this post.

The overall Top LLR Priorities page has been updated.

Priority Update

After reaching n=666666, the Proth Prime Search (LLR) forward momentum saw a daily rate drop of almost 70%. This was more than we expected but still OK considering how much effort was devoted to getting n to 666666. Afterwards, there were two LLR challenges which took up additional resources.

With the success of the last Challenge on TRP (LLR) finding two primes, we are returning focus to PPS (LLR).

Therefore, the Proth Prime Search (LLR) REMAINS the top BOINC LLR priority. We are currently pushing k<1200 up to 1M. Afterwards we'll push lower k's to higher n's (intermixed with 1200<k<10000 from 670K towards 700K).

The overall Top LLR Priorities page has been updated.

Status of select projects:

SGS - A Sophie Germain prime and twin primes are still the goal. Currently, the single primes by-product are about 23 weeks from falling out of the Top 5000 primes database. The actual SG or twin prime, once found, will be a world record. We are almost 1/2 way through the search space; so a bit unlucky so far.

TRP - Two recent primes were nice finds for this project. Within the month we'll be entering into a double check phase to explore some possible gaps at lower n levels.

PSP - PG is still looking for its first prime. This project is currently within a double check phase - dc'ing up to at least 8M and preferably to 9M. (now at 7M).
