I have seen your posts (bump) in Meebo etc-- I watch the forum posts closely and it seems your original issue Message 12646 and 12680 landed at the same time in the Forum-- Credit claimed on WU's suggest these are PSP Sieve-- What are they exactly???

Ooops sorry Seejay I confused this project with one where the owners pay for the work done and where the project scientists work 24/7 rather than a volunteer project where users and project scientists give up their time freely for non commercial but interesting ends.

Is there a project where you get payed for the work you do?

That's becouse I posted this here, an administrator had to mark it for revalidation.

The fact that I do not respond doesn't mean I don't care about the thing you posted about; my time is quite limited these days, so every minute counts - I often deal with the issue and don't post about it if I don't feel my response is neccessary. I always read all posts in the forums and try to react as I see fit.

Is the Validation process experiencing problems today or is it just me. Some wu's that reported a few hours ago are still pending validation. Usually the validation process seems very short, almost instantaneous.

Here's a list of the WU's in question (ignore the first one, as it is an unvalidated result from a cancelled wu back in january.)

I have 4 Proth Prime Search (Sieve) that were returned on 5 October and have not validated, yet all ones that were finished after them have validated reasonably quickly.

Have I been too quick to report these? If I get any in the future how long should I wait to report them, a few days, a week?

The 4 tasks have now validated.

Thank you if it was done manually and in case it wasn't, I will wait at least 3 days before reporting if I get any in the future. Hope that is suitable.

Thank you for your reply SiKTheGreatOne. Yes I understand that PPS Sieve tasks should get validated soon after they are reported. I meant wait 3 days to report unvalidated tasks in this thread, not report them in BOINC. Thanks for letting me know about the challenge possibly causing trouble, I didn't know about that.

Normally I would have waited a bit longer to post here about any unvalidated tasks but recently I had experienced trouble contacting the server and I thought those 4 completed tasks may not have been uploaded correctly or something. That server trouble was probably caused by the challenge you mentioned.

If I get any more I will wait until after the original deadline expires before I concern myself with them. Once they are automatically rechecked they will likely be validated then and I won't need to post in this thread.

I prefer to get credit for tasks I complete but for the occasional few that don't validate it's not the main reason I want them validated, it's more a feeling of things being incomplete if I see them staying there unvalidated.

do we have a validation problem at the moment? None of my WUs of the last 4 hours has been validated yet and server status says the number of unvalidated WUs is increasing all the time...

Looks like it's a good thing I switched my home PC over to PRPNet this morning, although my work computer is still (slowly) churning out AP26s to clog up the validator.

oh good....I'm not alone. I have 199,833 credits on 321 sieve and was checking back often to see my shiney new silver badge, but it wouldn't come. Then after I got home, I uploaded a bunch of finished wus and quickly went back to see my new badge. It wasn't there, so I checked "pending" and found out what the hold up was.

I assume they'll fix it right after it's fixed and not before....., but that's just a guess.

I did some debugging on the validator and left it run continuously (sp?) on a single WU. Whoops. :)
