Do GFN17Mega and PPS find the same prime numbers ?

On November 18, 2010, my computer found a prime number of Proth of 174684 decimals : 9507*2^580272+1.
This week, I received an email that told me that I found a prime number just recently, a generalized Fermat prime.
Currently, I only let this project (GFN) run on my computer.
However, these two primes are the same and they are therefore reported in two different places on my account in the "Primes found" of the two sub-projects (GFN and PPS).
Is this normal or is there an error ?
PS: It's really hard to find a MegaPrime with Genefer 17 Mega, because after calculating more than 80,000 tasks, I haven't found one yet ! | |

Generalized Fermat prime is form of prime , and many primes that meet some condition can be named like that. But I only see one prime at your list.
Second, you are just unlucky, in theory you need about 33000 GFN 17 to find one prime, and that will be mega prime ( above 1M). And second thing: since GFN17 use fast DC, you really check only half of that number: so only 40000 workinit, rest of them ( shorter ones) are just proof, and they cannot give you prime.. So your prime is next around corner :)
So where your prime is missing is question for admins.

Yes, you found a GFN-17 prime. I sent you the email a week ago telling you about it and asking for your name and permission to report. I just submitted it to T5K a few minutes ago, and will be visible on PrimeGrid soon after T5K verifies it. | |

No sorry, unless I'm mistaken, I found that prime number you emailed me about last week over 10 years ago !
And it had been reported to me on my account already at that time in the line "Primes found" in the subproject "Proth Primes search" !
There must be a malfunction somewhere.
And even now, since last week, this unique prime number is assigned to me in two places at once: in the sub-project "Proth Primes search" and also in the sub-project "Generalized Fermat Prime Search tasks". | |

What number did you find over 10 years ago?
The only other prime I see on your account was a double check you did in 2010, and that is not the same number as the prime you just discovered.

Jean-Luc, confusion can arise in the period where the prime is found but not yet public.
One of your counters on your own page goes up, but you cannot yet see the new prime, so that may be why you believe one single prime (as it appears on the list) is counted in two different projects. However, it will become correct once enough information is present to report your prime, and the prime has gone through verification on Top 5000 (now called t5k.org).
The first prime 9507*2^580272 + 1 was found by Scott Brown and double-checked by you, in November 2010. At that time, all projects had two simultaneous tasks, identical. The user who finished their task first, got their name on the prime. That was Scott Brown. The other user was you, and you got "half the fame", as a double checker.
The first prime is not a GFN (the k=9507 is not a perfect square).
The new prime 163044252^131072 + 1 is found by you alone. Now, the double-checker system has been abandoned for most of our projects. Your saw a hint of the prime before you could see the prime itself. It could not be completed before Reggie had your full name, and had the time to manually report it.
Very soon, the new prime will be fully processed by T5k, and will show up on your list. Congratulations!
If it is true you have done 80'000 GFN-17 tasks, it is a little unlucky to get only one prime. If you stay on GFN-17, the next 80'000 tasks you do could easily give you more than one prime.

Yes, and it was returned a week ago, at 16 Apr 2023, 04:35:19 UTC. Probably the hint of it was visible as a GFN project prime counter going from 0 to 1.
